FULTON FALL FOLK FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES
Peck’s Tractor Display Gary and Nancy have been avid John Deere tractor collectors for more than 40 years – starting their collection with a Model A in the 1970s. Thirty tractors will be displayed on the hill in front of their home during the Fall Folk Festival. Freshly restored this year is the Model 620. Follow the signs off of Route 522 onto Breezy Point Road near Knobsville. Cross the bridge between the John Deere green/yellow wagon wheels and enjoy. Restroom is on site.
Breakfast Buffet Cito United Methodist Church will serve a breakfast buffet Saturday, October 19, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Cito Fellowship Hall located at 3746 Cito Road, Mc- Connellsburg. The buffet-style breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, chipped beef gravy, toast, orange juice and coffee. No charge. Donations accepted.
Museums Open McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends will have the McConnellsburg/Greenhill Alumni Museum and Fulton County All Sports Museums open this weekend for the festival at the following times: Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The alumni kitchen will also be open featuring focaccia, apple dumplings, soup, sandwiches and a variety of baked goods. Quilt Show The 33rd annual Fulton County Quilt Show will be held at Fulton Theatre, located at the rear ofF&M Trust at 100 Lincoln Way East. Quilts will be received for the show Wednesday, October 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Show hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, October 17; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 19; Sunday, October 20, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s raffle quilt, “Baskets Full of Red,” will be raffled off at 4 p.m. Free admission.
Chili Fest Stop by the ninth annual FFDC Chili Fest Saturday, October 19, at 9 a.m. at Democratic headquarters, 123 South Second Street, on Rt. 522, half a block up from the banks. One day only. Breakfast Fulton County Community Christian School Boosters Club will serve an old-fashioned country breakfast Saturday, October 19, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Menu will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, sausage gravy, home fries, biscuits, juice and coffee. Price is by donation. The school is located along Rt. 522 in Needmore.
Petting Zoo/Food Stand McConnellsburg FFA will hold a petting zoo, bake sale and food stand Friday and Saturday, October 18 and 19, across from the firehall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Face painting, pumpkin decorating and other activities will be offered as weather permits. Also available will be chicken corn soup for sale Friday, and ham bean soup for sale on Saturday. In addition, on Saturday at 2 p.m., Justin Cheshire will give a roping demonstration.
HAVFCO Festival Activities Activities at Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. during the Fulton Fall Folk Festival are: Friday, October 18, 5 p.m. – roast beef dinner; Saturday, October 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – all-you-can-eat homemade slippery potpie; Saturday, October 19, 6 p.m. – open stage; Sunday, October 20, 11 a.m. – all-you-can-eat buffet. Car Show A car show will be held Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore. Open to all antiques, hot rods, customs, classics, trucks and motorcycles. There will also be a concession stand, bake sale, music, door prizes and more. Judging is at 1:30 p.m. and trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. Proceeds benefit Fulton County Community Christian School. Dairy 4-H Club Bake Sale The Dairy 4-H Club will be holding a bake sale on Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m. until supplies last. The bake sale stand will be located at the start of the parade lineup.
Fashion Show/Pet Show A fashion show and pet show will be held in Waterfall, Saturday, October 19, at 12:30 p.m., on Knepper’s Mill porch. All pets and people are welcome to participate. FFFF Food Stand Center United Methodist women are planning a rest-stop for your sweet tooth, a refreshing drink of coffee, soft drinks and water, a sandwich for gnawing hunger and an exceptional apple dumpling as long as they last. A great opportunity to sit a spell in the historic Grange Hall, owned and kept neat by Zion United Methodist Church. To enjoy old friends and new ones. It’s a great homecoming away from the hustle and bustle of the day.
Chicken BBQ Knobsville United Methodist Church will hold a chicken barbecue Saturday, October 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $10 for half a chicken with dinner; $7 for just half a chicken. Eat in or take out. Baked goods also will be for sale.
Puppen Meister At FFFF Fulton County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Puppen Meister will be returning to this year’s 40th annual Fulton Fall Folk Festival at the alumni building in McConnellsburg. The Puppen Meister will be doing multiple marionette/puppet shows throughout each of the 3-day event and will be featuring children’s activities and games in addition to the popular 20 to 30 minute shows. Children’s activities and games include T-shirt spin art and face painting. Admission is free. Show times are Friday, noon to 2 p.m.; 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Saturday, 11 am., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.; and Sunday 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Halloween Parade McConnellsburg annual firemen’s Halloween parade will be held Thursday, October 31, beginning at 7 p.m. The parade route will run from East Maple Street to the McConnellsburg Firehall. Lineup will begin in front of Carbaugh’s Coin Laundry. Area children are invited to visit the firehall following the parade for light refreshments.
Indoor Soccer McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends will sponsor indoor soccer leagues. Registration for all girls and boys from fourth grade through adult will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 18-20, in the alumni buildig. Cost is $20 and covers T-shirts, eqiupment and supplies. Dale Gordon 5K Run The Dale Gordon 5K run/walk will be held Saturday, October 19, at the square in Needmore. There are 12 age/gender categories and medals are awarded in each category. The money raised is contributed to Fulton County Community Christian School. Harvest Day Cowans Gap State Park will hold a Harvest Day Saturday, October 19, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Activities will include pumpkin carving, seed roasting, hot apple cider, autumn crafts, fall games, nature trail, trek or treat trail and fall foliage walk.
Christmas Bazaar A Christmas bazaar will be held Friday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, three miles west of Needmore. Casino/Outlets Trip A Sands Casino and Outlets trip is planned to Bethlehem, Pa., Saturday, November 2. The bus will leave the VFW at 6 a.m. Cost is $40, which includes $30 free slot voucher plus $5 food voucher. Library Teen Board Meeting Fulton County Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will hold a Halloween costume party Friday, October 18, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., in the community room of Fulton County Library. Teens are asked to bring a covered dish or snack to share. All teens between the ages of 13 and 19 are welcome to attend.
P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet on the following dates: October 18, November 11, December 9, January 13 and 27 and February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support are also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. PASR Meeting To all school retirees, mark your calendars. Fulton Fall PASR meeting will be held at Hustontown Firehall during the morning of November 12. Speaker will be Ken Keebaugh, who will be talking about the one-room schools in the county. PASR has a storehouse of information available for use. This cn be a benefit to you during retirement. PASR, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, welcomes all school retirees and all friends of education, not just teachers. A chicken and ham meal will be served.
Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery on October 18.
Shooting Club Meeting The monthly shooting club meeting at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club will be held Thursday, October 17, at 6:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend and those interested are welcome.
