Gwendolyn M. Thomas II Chambersburg, 36

Gwendolyn Mae Thomas II, “Monk,” 36, of Chambersburg, died Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born June 30, 1977, in McConnellsburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Clifford Thomas and Gwendolyn Branche Thomas of Hagerstown, Md. She was engaged to Wilson Baptiste of Chambersburg. She was pregant with their son, Wilson X. Baptiste, who passed along with her.

She is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn Mae Thomas of Hagerstown, Md.; one brother, Weldon Branche of Chambersburg; one sister, Tyshea Thomas of McConnellsburg; her fiance, Wilson Baptiste of Chambersburg; and three sons: Clifford Thomas Jr., Zarius Thomas, and Markeavous Baptiste; her grandparents, Lennard and Verna Petty-John of Mc- Connellsburg; one greataunt, Mary Alice Anderson of California; and a host of aunts and uncles: Sandy Lee, Faye Branche, Angie Branche, Holly Branche, Ranazah Branche, Sarah Branche, Sabrina Chism, Dr. Celeste Thomas, Rev. Dr. Douglas Thomas, Derrick Petty-John and Shirley Harris, as well as numerous family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Allen Thomas; one brother, Preston Lee Branche; and her grandparents: Harry and Winnie Mae Branche; and great-grandparents, Harry and Louise Branche.

She was vibrant, easy-going and fun-loving. She had a contagious laugh and a smile that could light up the world. She loved people and she loved life. Family was everything to her, and she demonstrated that in the way that she cared for her father, her mother and her children. She loved her brothers and sisters and never forgot who she was or where she was raised. Her smile will be forever etched in our hearts, minds and spirits.

A home-going service to celebrate the life of Gwendolyn Mae Thomas II “Monk” will be held at noon Friday, October 11, 2013, at Kelso- Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, with visitation from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Diane Jefferson and Rev. Dr. Douglas Thomas officiating.

Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg, will be handling the arrangements.
