Leon M. Crampton Hagerstown, 87

Leon M. Crampton, 87, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, September 28, 2013, at his home.

Born May 9, 1926, in Tilghmanton, Md., he was the son of the late Walter and Zella Hennessey Crampton. He was married to Dorothy Shenebeck Crampton on February 17, 1951. She prceded him in death on March 31, 2010.

He is survived by a son, Michael Crampton (husband of Linda), McConnellsburg; a daughter, Patricia Bates, Middletown, Md.; one granddaughter, Jenna Hoffman (wife of Toby) and one great-grandson, Cohen Hoffman, Hagerstown.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Blake M. Crampton.

He was retired form Lone Star Cement and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II in the South Pacific.

He grew up in the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Lappans, Md. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 378, the local Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mercersburg. In his early life he enjoyed playing baseball in the local leagues. He enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing and boating and loved the outdoors. He and Dorothy travelled to all 50 states throughout their life together.

Services were private and at the convenience of the family.
