DA Says Police Shooting Of Pa. Man Was Justified
LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) – Authorities in central Pennsylvania said police were justified in the fatal shooting of a man who pointed a weapon at officers that turned out to be a BB gun.
Lancaster County’s district attorney said Friday that 46- year- old Steven Michael Brill of Rapho Township gave officers no choice but to use deadly force during the Aug. 12 incident.
Brill told a police dispatcher that he would not be taken alive. When officers arrived at the home, Brill was armed with a BB gun with a scope that looked like a rifle and he pointed it at an officer when he was shot.
District Attorney Craig Stedman said a state police investigation conducted revealed that there were four incidents between November 2012 and May in which Brill told police he was suicidal.
