Cancer Benefit Set For October 5
This will be the fifth and final year for the event. This year’s recipients are Mary Barnhart from Needmore, Kathy Hendershot from Big Cove Tannery and Johnathan Farling from Big Cove Tannery.
The program starts at 11 a.m. and doors open at 10:30 a.m. with a soup, salad and dessert buffet followed by guest speaker Matthew Pilkerton of Tri-State Community Health Center. The recipients will share their personal testimonies with the audience. Tickets are $15 or a table of six for $75 (one seat free).
To raise additional money, silent auction items, live auction items and raffles will be on hand. Auctioneer Craig Knepper has volunteered his time. With auction items flowing in, there promises to be something for everyone. Items such as quilts, fall and Christmas decor, home accessories, jewelry, food and gift certificates are waiting to be won by the highest bidder.
“Our committee has raised the stakes this year by supporting three local people who are dealing daily with their struggles with cancer. I hope this is our best year yet and greatly appreciate all the donations we have received so far. We are hoping for a great turnout so we need to sell as many tickets as we can. Over the last four years we have raised more than $12,000 for our recipients, and it has stayed in Fulton County,” says Deb Toothman, chairman.
