Morrow Wins Culbertson Prize At Mercersburg Academy

Bea Morrow, a rising 10th-grade student at Mercersburg Academy, was named the 2013-2014 recipient of Mercersburg’s Culbertson Prize at the school’s opening convocation September 8.

Morrow’s grandparents, the late Oscar and Naomi Weller, previously lived in McConnellsburg. Morrow, who is from Dallas, Texas, is the daughter of Christy Coltrin and Brad Oldham of Dallas and Bruce Morrow, also of Dallas.

The award is supported by the F.M. Kirby Foundation of Morristown, N.J., which established an endowed program of scholarships to honor the late John H. Culbertson of Mercersburg’s Class of 1924. It recognizes a student entering the 10th grade who gives evidence of exceptional promise and who has already demonstrated outstanding accomplishment.

Morrow is entering her second year at Mercersburg, where she is involved in the dance program and was named to the scholar list ( the school’s honor-roll equivalent) all three terms as a ninth grader.
