SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

Sunday was a beautiful day at the FCMC campus for two reasons: FCMC paid honor to local emergency responders and celebrated Grandparents Day with their residents. The annual EMS event was started to commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11 in 2011 and has continued now three years later. Last year, adding the celebration of Grandparents Day, made for a great combination of celebrating two groups of unsung heroes. The two groups enjoyed a cookout and homemade desserts provided by the residents’ families and FCMC employees. DJ Jazzie Jeff Wilson of Hustontown provided entertainment.

After the meal, six EMS teams battled it out for the “Local Hero Horseshoe Tournament.” Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. took home the traveling plaque for the third-straight year with the team of Jeff Black and Scott Roher. Next year there is talk of a “Battle of the Barrel Contest.” Local county commissioners Craig Cutchall and Rodney McCray were on hand to offer thanks to the EMS for their dedication and service and present the winning team with the traveling plaque.
