Chicken BBQ To Finance Police Flag

Twelve of 13 flags are flying over the new Franklin County Veterans and 9/11 Park at Letterkenny Chapel. Organizers are hoping that the sole remaining flag, the Police Flag, will be flown on the park’s next event, Veterans Day, scheduled for Sunday, November 10, at 3 p.m.

Chambersburg Police Chief and committee member David Arnold has organized a chicken BBQ to be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the former Jennings Chevrolet dealership parking lot at 340 N. Second St., in Chambersburg to raise money for the flag.

Smith’s BBQ will be preparing the chicken and there will be prize drawings.

“It will be a special honor to complete the flag display with the Police Flag,” stated former County Commissioner Chair and 9/11 committee member G. Warren Elliott. “So many of their ranks gave their lives on September 11 and they continue to keep our communities safe at great personal cost.”

Tickets may be purchased in advance by contacting Kathy at 496-8838 or visiting PadBlue, behind Wendy’s at 875 L. W. W., Chambersburg, PA 17202, 717-267-2018. Presold tickets must be redeemed by 1:30 to guarantee that enough food is available. If folks would like to simply contribute to the new flag or the Veterans Park, contributions may be mailed to UCCA / 9/11 Memorial Fund (Police Flag), P. O. Box 1052, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
