McConnellsburg Class of 1957 held its 56th class reunion on Saturday at K’s Place. It was time to reminisce and catch up on the latest in their lives and enjoy the delicious food served. Out- of-town guests were Ned and Jean Cornelius of Bethel, Pa., Harry Eugene Bain of Clear Springs, Md.;, Gail Hann Horton of Georgia; and Dorothy Potter of Greencastle. A total of 28 class members and guests attended.

The first day of autumn is September 22.

Brian and Erin Shafer will observe their 10th wedding anniversary on September 20.

The descendants of the late John Harr held their 28th reunion Sunday at the FOVA picnic grounds in Big Cove Tannery.

The descendants of the Harry N. and Arishia De- Shong family held a reunion Sunday on Goldie Road.

A reunion to celebrate 50 years or more of nursing at Fulton County Medical Center was held at the VFW meeting room on Saturday. A light buffet lunch was served.

It Happened This Week: The Mayflower departed from Plymouth, England, for the New World in 1620, carrying 102 passengers and 48 crew members. It arrived with two new passengers who were born on the way.

Country Shortcuts: When packing a lunch, wrap sandwiches in a paper towel before putting them in the sandwich bag. The towel will help keep them fresh.

Marvin Sipes, a resident of Overly-Meadows Long Term Care wing at Fulton County Medical Center, recently received a veterans certificate recognizing him for his military service to his country. Thank you to the Home Nursing Agency, his family and friends for sharing this special ceremony with him.
