Special Services New Grenada Church of God will present New Life Girls, a singing ministry from Lancaster, September 22, at 10 a.m. and September 22-25, at 7 p.m. Each night enjoy the songs and speaking of Larry Stegner, a songwriter, singer and evangelist.

Conference “Treasured Trials Conference” with Kerby and Kelli Campbell will be held September 22, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., and September 23 and 24, at 7 p.m., at Dublin Mills Community Church. Campbell suffers from a physical condition that causes severe pain daily with no medical cure. Utilizing personal experience, he wants to help you give God honor through your trials and realize they are treasures from God. Everyone is welcome to attend. Special Services Special services will be held at My Father’s House Ministries September 27-29. Alan Ross from Scotland will be the guest speaker. Services will be Friday, September 27, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, September 28, at 7 p.m., plus Sunday morning, September 29, at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to celebrate the 14th anniversary. Free Airplane Rides EAA Chapter 36 will be giving free airplane rides for youths ages 8-17 at Hagerstown Airport Sunday, September 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parent or guardian must be present to sign forms.

Quilt Club Retreat Fulton County Quilt Club annual retreat will be held September 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, located at 303 Lincoln Way East, in McConnellsburg. Please bring a covered dish and quilts in progress to work on. New to the club or quilting? Stop by to see some very creative quilting and meet the lovely ladies of the Quilt Club. The club’s 2013 raffle quilt, “Baskets Full of Red,” will be displayed, until the show in October, at Tickle Your Fancy, located at 110 Lincoln Way West, in McConnellsburg. Raffle tickets are available for purchase and the drawing will be during the 33rd annual Fulton County Quilt Show.

Golf Tournament A 4-man golf tournament will be held at Great Cove Golf Club September 28 at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit Fulton County Pony/Colt Baseball Programs. Deadline to register is September 25. X Card Shoots Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club X card shoots will start Friday, September 20, at 7 p.m. and run every Friday night until November 22. Kitchen will be open.

Wounded Warrior X Shoot Wounded Warrior X-card shoot will be held at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club Sunday, September 29, at 2 p.m. Kitchen will be open.

Pig Roast & Gospel Concert Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene will hold its annual pig roast at Pleasant Ridge Campground Saturday, September 21, beginning at 5 p.m. Covered dishes, desserts and drinks are welcome to compliment the pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and bean soup provided by the church. Following the meal, there will be a concert featuring Heaven Bound of Bedford. A freewill offering will be taken to offset expenses for Heaven Bound. Fight Like A Girl Benefit The fifth annual Fight Like a Girl cancer benefit luncheon will be October 5, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church Life Center. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and program starts at 11 a.m. A catered lunch will be served. Silent auction items and raffles will be available to raise funds for three local persons with their struggles. This year’s recipients are Mary Barnhart, Kathy Hendershot and Johnathan Farling. Tickets are $15 each or $75 for a table of 6 seats. Door tickets will be limited so reserve now. Soccer Shoot Elks Soccer Shoot will run the whole month of September. Please call Kathy Kendall at 717-485-0221 or 377-3643 to find out when and where a shoot will be running. Boys and girls up to 14 years old can participate in this shoot with a chance to go on to the district, state and national competition.

Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, September 28, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Free admission.

Special Auction Spirits of Hope will hold an auction for John Chamberlain September 21. He has been in and out of hospitals and nursing homes for nine months. Dinner will be at 5 p.m. and auction will be held at 6 p.m. at Green Hill Sewing Club in Harrisonville. Donations of new and genly used items including baked goods will be accepted. Dropoff is after 10 a.m. at the sewing club on day of auction. Items will also be picked up before the day of the auction. Casino/Outlets Trip A Sands Casino and Outlets trip is planned to Bethlehem, Pa., Saturday, November 2. The bus will leave the VFW at 6 a.m. Cost is $40, which includes $30 free slot voucher plus $5 food voucher. There are 16 restaurants and 24 outlets (Coach, Under Armor, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Corningware, Dress Barn, Van Huesen, Izod, etc.) Make reservations with Linda Lynch at 717-552-5422 or bring money to VFW. Mic Night Open Mic Night will be held Friday, September 20, at Hancock Performing Arts Center, Town Hall, 126 West High Street, Hancock, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free and donations accepted. Bus Tour A bus tour will be held Friday, October 18, of northern Fulton, Bedford and Huntingdon counties, including Sinoquipe Scout camp, Russian cemetery in Wood, Railroad and Mining Museum in Robertsdale, lunch at Traditions in Martinsburg, Riddlesburg coke ovens, Keystone Foundry in Hopewell and Oregon Road CCC Camp, which was also a conscientious objectors and German prisoner of war camp. Time permitting, a visit will be made to the abandoned Sideling Hill turnpike tunnel and a South Penn Railroad culvert. Other sites will be discussed. Sponsored by Fulton Historical Society. Cruise-In For a Cause A cruise-in will be held September 21 at Thomas All Things Automotive in McConnellsburg, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A $10 donation is being accepted per registered vehicle. This event is being held to benefit the 2013 Fight Like A Girl recipients of Fulton County, Mary Barnhart, Kathy Hendershott and Johnathon Farling. Food will be available for purchase by Sipes Smokehouse BBQ. A bake sale is being hosted by Rehoboth New Life. Cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. The first 35 registered vehicles will receive a thank-you gift envelope. No alcoholic beverages. Not responsible for accidents. Food Auction Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction Saturday, September 21, at 2 p.m. The kitchen will open at noon. Mike Sullivan will be the vendor.

Library Fundraiser A fundraiser for the Fulton County Library will be held Friday, September 20, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with Premier Designs Jewelry. You Gave, Now Save Anyone may qualify to get help paying Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and/or Medicare Part B (medical insurance) premiums. States have programs that can help pay Medicare expenses (like premiums, deductibles and coinsurance). Meet at Hustontown Senior Center Tuesday, September 24, at 10:30 a.m. for this program. 55-ALIVE Driving Class The 55-Alive /Mature Driving classroom refresher class will be offered at Warfordsburg Senior Center September 24 and 25. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and two days of classes are required. Preregister, either in person or by mailing a check payable to AARP for $14 (per person nonmember) or $12 (per person AARP member), to Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Rd, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Graduates of the class, age 55 and older, will be eligible for the three-year auto insurance discounts. If planning to stay for lunch, following the class, let Cindy know at 294-6020 one day in advance or when registering. There are no tests involved.

CROP Walk Help fight hunger and poverty all over the world by joining the 29th annual Fulton County CROP Walk. This year’s event will be held at Cowans Gap State Park Sunday, October 6, at 2 p.m. Contact Patty Hall at 814-599- 7756 for more information.

Volunteer Day At Cowans Gap Cowans Gap State Park will host a volunteer event September 28 to celebrate National Public Lands Day. Volunteers around the nation pitch in on National Public Lands Day to show appreciation for the nation’s valuable and beautiful public lands. Join park staff and other volunteers for a rewarding day of volunteering at Cowans Gap State Park. Volunteers are needed to assist with trail and day-use area maintenance, litter cleanup, table assembly, gardening, nature center chores and campground cleanup. There may be other projects as well. This event is being held from 9 a.m. to noon with sign-in held at Pavilion #1. Preregistration for this event is required in order to prepare tools and work assignments. Please register by contacting the park office at 717-485-3948. All participants are invited to celebrate National Public Lands Day with a volunteer appreciation lunch, beginning at noon. During the lunch, the staff of Cowans Gap State Park will honor the dedicated volunteers that have contributed many hours to the park this season. Preregistration is required for the lunch.

P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet on the following dates: September 30, October 14 and 28, November 11, December 9, January 13 and 27 and February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support are also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. Spaghetti Dinner Friends of Peggy Claycomb, a local cancer patient, are sponsoring a spaghetti dinner at Saint Stephen Catholic Church in McConnellsburg, Friday, September 20. Spaghetti, meatballs, salad, drinks and dessert will be served at noon and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eat in or carry out. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for child.

Chicken BBQ Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday, September 22, at 11 a.m. Menu will be half a chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, cake and roll.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

REUNIONS

Shoemaker/Weller Reunion The Shoemaker/Weller family will hold its ninth annual family reunion of the late Jacob Shoemaker and Goldie Weller Shoemaker family on Saturday, October 5, at Camp Harding, Pectonville, in Pavilion #2. Social hour will be held at noon with meal at 1 p.m. Bring a hot or cold dish or dessert.Chicken, table settings and drinks will be provided.

Hustontown/FR Alumni Banquet Hustontown/FR Alumni banquet will be held October 5, 2013, at Hustontown Firehall. All graduates of either high school are invited to attend. The door will open at 4 p.m. to visit with friends. The chicken and ham meal will be served at 6 p.m. A donation of $10 for each person attending is needed. MEETINGS

Library Teen Board Meeting Fulton County Library Teen Advisory Board will meet at the Pump Station Road entrance to the old Pennsylvania Turnpike for a bike ride Sunday, September 29, at 3 p.m. Please bring a bicycle as well as a flashlight or headlamp to help navigate the tunnels. Registration/ liability forms will be available and will require parental signature for events held during the 2013-14 school year. All teens between ages 13 and 19 are welcome to attend.

Shooting Club Meeting The monthly 4-H Shooting Club will meet at the Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club Thursday, September 19, at 6:30 p.m. New members are welcome.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, September 24, at 11 a.m., in Fulton County Library community room. Bring items for a silent auction. Early arrivals to help set up tables are appreciated. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-5736. Guests are welcome.
