William D. Forney
William D Forney, 94, Taneytown, Md., died Sunday, August 25, 2013.
He was born in Taneytown, Md., son of the late David and Naomi (Hahn) Forney. He was married to the late Phyllis (Warsing) Forney of Wells Tannery for over 70 years. He was a resident at Frey Village in Middletown.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Lewisberry, Pa.
He had been a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542, since October 1943. His career involved working on construction projects from Puerto Rico to New York, including 11 years as master mechanic during construction of Three Mile Island. He and his wife spent 20 years of retirement in Lee County, Fla., where he enjoyed woodworking and serving his church, before returning to Pennsylvania in 2005.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharron (David) Sedziol of Pataskala, Ohio; and three sons: David (Susan) of York; Melvin (Kay) of Etters; and Philip (Kathleen) of Elizabethtown; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth of Taneytown, Md.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy; five sisters; and two brothers.
Graveside services were held August 28, 2013, at Good’s Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Pa. Memorial gifts may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 780 Woodland Avenue, Lewisberry PA 17339.
