STAFF REPORT

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg investigated an apparent homicide-suicide over the weekend involving a former Fulton County man.

Police investigators responded to a 911 call regarding a possible shooting in Greene Township late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Troopers reported they found 60-year-old Gordon “Mike” Brown, and his wife Kelly Brown, 40, of Chambersburg, had suffered gunshot wounds.

Kelly Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey Conner, having suffered a gunshot wound to the head. It is estimated she died prior to 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Mike Brown, who was raised in Fulton County and was a graduate of McConnellsburg High School, was transported to Chambersburg Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5 a.m. from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police said Brown shot his wife with a handgun before turning the weapon on himself.

According to court documents, the couple were in the process of divorcing after a nine year marriage and were sorting out custody issues regarding their children, ages 8 and 11. The Browns worked at Chambersburg Hospital where they were employed as surgical technologists.
