Fire Dept. Treasurer Accused Of Stealing $250K
WEST POINT, Pa. (AP) – The former treasurer of fire department in the Philadelphia suburbs has been charged with stealing $250,000 and using the money for personal expenses including vacations, gambling and his daughter’s wedding in Las Vegas.
Authorities say that 62- year- old Ronald Kenneth “Ken’’ Nolan served 24 years as treasurer for the Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Co. Nolan was arrested Friday on multiple felony theft charges for allegedly stealing $249,704 from January 2006 to December 2012.
Nolan allegedly took cash advances of $116,000 and also used fire company credit cards for personal expenses.
Nolan was released on $10,000 cash bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 3.
There was no answer at a number listed under Nolan’s name.
