Arthur L. Lucas, 86
Arthur L. Lucas, 86, Hancock, Md., died Monday, August 12, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born April 10, 1927, in Warfordsburg, he was the son of the late Richard Lee and Margaret Elizabeth Hill Lucas, and the husband of Idella Vernedia Trail Lucas, who died August 21, 2008.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He retired in 1989 as a superintendent for Maryland State Park Service at Fort Frederick.
He is survived by one son, Arthur Norty Lucas, Big Pool, Md.; six grandsons: Marty Adams, Randy Adams, Darren Lucas, Devin Lucas, Dereck Wollaston and Shane Wollaston; and two great-grandsons, Joshua and Trenton Lucas.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters: Sandra Adams Lucas and Tammy D. Di Nenna; four brothers: Nathan Lucas, William Lucas, Sidney Lucas and Richard Lucas; and two sisters: Bernice Smith and June Gearhart.
Services were held Saturday, August 17, at 11 a.m., at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Rev. Jack Hiles Jr. officiated. Burial was in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool.
