Walter L. Brindle Mercersburg, 73

Walter L. Brindle, 73, Mercersburg, died Saturday August 10, 2013, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 15, 1940, at Markes, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Hazel Miller Brindle.

He was an insurance agent for Washington National Life for 25 years. He later was a route salesman for Valley Pride Bread Co. His other places of employment include Parnell Supply Co., Martin Millwork Inc. and Mt. Parnell Fisheries.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Lemasters, a member of Moose Lodge #1790 and American Legion Post #606

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed throwing horseshoes, traveling and the family cabin at Cowans Gap.

Surviving are his wife, Anna C. Whitmore Brindle, whom he married October 6, 1961; a son, Walter Lee Jr., and wife Sheila Brindle, of Mercersburg; a daughter, Kimberly, and husband Charles Turner of Douglasville, Ga.; grandchildren Chelsey Turner, Cally Turner and Amber Brindle; and a sister, Donna Deshong, Mercersburg.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Ensminger, and brothers John, Ralph and Paul Brindle.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday August 13, at St. Paul’s UCC of Lemasters. Pastor Robert Mentzer officiated. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
