Fulton County Fair To Open August 11

Preparations are being made for the 93rd annual Fulton County Fair to be held August 11-17. Come see some new events and old friends nightly beginning Sunday, August 11, with free admission to an open horse show beginning at 8:30 a.m. and a vesper service at 6:30 p. m., sponsored by Mc- Connellsburg Ministerium. Five contestants will vie for the title of Fulton County Fair Queen at 8 p.m.

Monday will feature a skid loader competition at 6 p.m. and a 4-wheeler rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Don’t forget the baked goods auction at 9:30 p.m. Main gates open at 5 p.m.

Tuesday will be Family Day beginning at 2:30 p.m. A skillathon with cattle, sheep, goats and swine will be at 11:30 a.m. At 3 p.m. there will be a pedal tractor pull and at 6 p.m. the Little Miss Fair Queen contest sponsored by Susquehanna Bank. A diesel 4x4 truck and semi- truck pull will begin at 7 p.m. Kids, don’t forget to register for the bike giveaway at 8:30 p.m. Main gates open at 2 p.m.

Wednesday will be Buchanan Auto Park and Hagerstown Speedway Day. A skillathon will begin at 11:30 a.m. for horses and rabbits. A Compact Car Derby will begin at 7 p.m. Main gates will open at 5 p.m.

Thursday is Senior Citizens’ Day and will be free admission to senior citizens age 65 and older, with free bingo and entertainment from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. At 7 p.m. there will be bingo in the large white tent sponsored by the Fulton County Democratic Club. Also at 7 p.m., there will be a farm stock tractor ( gas and diesel) and 4x4 pickup pull (gas). Main gates open at 1 p.m.

Friday will be Phantom Fireworks Day and will feature 4-wheeler drag heat races at 5:30 p.m., sponsored by Sean’s ATV Connection, R.H. Bunch Construction, Ridersville Cycle and Mc- Connellsburg Motor and Implements. Barnyard Olympics will be held at 6 p.m. There will be bingo in the large white tent beginning at 7 p.m., sponsored by the Fulton County Democratic Club and Fireworks at 9:30 p.m., sponsored by Phantom Fireworks. Main gates open at 1 p.m.

Saturday will be JLG Industries Inc. Day beginning at 1 p.m. with a novice horseshoe pitching tournament. At 2 p.m., lawnmower racing will begin, sponsored by the Fulton County Small Engine Club. A new event will be held at 6:30 p.m., a garden tractor pull, sponsored by the Eastern Garden Tractor Pullers. Again at 7 p.m., bingo will be held in the large white tent, sponsored by the Fulton County Democratic Club. Main gates open at 1 p.m.

Daily admission is $6 or $8 with unlimited rides, 2 and under are free without rides. Rides open at 5 p.m. Weekly passes are available until 8 p.m. Monday, August 12, for $25 without rides. Weekly passes with rides (mega pass) cost $40. Two gates will be open daily for afternoon activities. Main gates open as scheduled.

Bingo will be held three nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at the fair with the proceeds benefitting “Save Meadow Grounds Lake.” “Just Add Water” Tshirts will also be available.
