God’s Love On Wheels God’s Love on Wheels will be held Friday, August 16, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, August 16, at the former Ricahrds Auto Sales prking lot. “Glow” will offer music, worship, food, prayer availability, kids’ games, Love’s Closet items, door prize drawings and much more. Back-To-School Prayer Night There will be a back-toschool prayer night August 20, 2013. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Forbes Road High School auditorium. Everyone is welcome.

Camp Meeting Crystal Spring Camp Meeting begins Friday evening, August 9, running daily through August 18. Nightly services begin at 7:30 p.m. with songleader Dan Meredith and evangelistic services under the leadership of Rev. Don Ciampa. Special nightly music is also scheduled. Sunday afternoon concerts at 2:30 p.m.; August 11 - the Fellowship Quartet; August 18 - GodScent. There are daily activities for all ages. State Singing Convention The Vicksburg Quartet of Duncancsville will present its 38th annual Pennsylvania State Singing Convention featuring 150 gospel groups/soloists and duets beginning Thursday, August 8, at 6 p.m. and continuing through Sunday, August 11, until 9 p.m. at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, 201 S. Quilt Club Retreat Fulton County Quilt Club’s annual retreat will be held September 21, from 9 a.m. to roughly 4 p.m.

Golf Tournament The 20th annual Fulton County Medical Center Foundation Golf Tournament will be played Saturday, September 14, at Great Cove Golf Course in McConnellsburg. This year’s tournament benefits the emergency department expansion project. The tournament, which has a shotgun start at 9 a.m., features cash prizes for the winning teams, plenty of games along the way, a continental breakfast, a barbecue lunch, snacks and beverages throughout the morning, door prizes and awards. Registration begins at 8 a.m. that morning. The cost per golfer is $80. Fellowship For Singles On Friday, August 16, Warfordsburg Senior Center will host a fellowship for singles from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is for single folks 60 and older to get together and remember old times, tell stories, compare ideas or just sit and enjoy the company of folks like yourself. Path Valley Picnic The 106th annual Path Valley Picnic and Homecoming will be held rain or shine August 14-17, at Hammond’s Grove, Route 75, north of Spring Run.


Fulton County Fair Participants Attention all fair exhibitors: Premium books are no longer being mailed to exhibitors.

Please see local businesses to pick up this year’s copy. Rabbit check-in will be Saturday, August 11, at noon. All other entries will be accepted starting August 11, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, August 12, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday, August 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the fair office.

Eat All Winter From Garden A program will be held Saturday, September 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, at McConnellsburg Firehall. Cost is $10/person or $15/family (money must accompany reservation). To reserve a seat call – 717-485-4111. Program presented by Fulton County Master Gardeners. Learn how to plant a garden in the fall and to eat all winter from your garden. Following the workshop will be tour of the Victory Garden.

Dairy Basket Auction A dairy basket will be auctioned off during the 4-H/FFA livestock sale Saturday, August 17, at the fairgrounds. Proceeds benefit the Fulton County 4-H Dairy Club. Items include a cooler, ice cream maker, butter, cheese and original artwork by Linda Mosemann.

Hunter/Trapper Course A hunter/trapper education course will be held Saturday, September 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required at PGC Web site at www.pgc.state.pa.us. Click on education/hunter education class schedule. Class is limited to 55 students. Bring bag lunch Saturday. Love’s Closet Love’s Closet will be held the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July-October, at 117 West Market Street, in the alley behind the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building basement, McConnellsburg.

P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet on the following dates: August 12 and 26, September 9 and 30, October 14 and 28, November 11, December 9, January 13 and 27 and February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support is also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. Benefit Dinner A benefit dinner for Tristan Douglas, a Southern Fulton High School cancer patient, will be held September 7, at Needmore Bible Church, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Menu will be lasagna, salad, garlic bread, drink and dessert. Cost is adults $8, children 5-12, $5 and under 5 are free. There will also be a silent auction. Modern Woodmen of America will match up to $500 of the funds raised, but more money is hoped to be raised as they are having financial burdens with Tristan going back and forth to Childrens Hospital for treatments. Festival Center United Methodist Church will hold its last ice cream festival of the year, Saturday, August 24, at 4 p.m. Turkey dinners will be available with filling, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, coleslaw or applesauce. Also available are soup, sandwiches, pie, cake and ice cream. The Blessed Friends will be an added attraction with their beautiful songs of yesteryear and well-known hymns of faith.The church is located one-half mile off Route 655 on Waterfall Road or five miles north of Hustontown on Dublin Mills Road.

Grandma Ann’s Peach Pie Sale St. Stephen Family Life Committee will sponsor a Grandma Ann’s peach pie sale Saturday, August 24. Pies can be picked up in the social hall after 9 a.m. Costs are plain $8 and crumb $9. To order call 485- 5917.

Festival Siloam United Methodist Church will hold a festival August 10, at 4 p.m. Menu consists of sandwiches, soup, homemade ice cream, pie, etc. Church is located on Rt. 655 south of Harrisonville. Music by Country Christians.

Infantry Regiment Reunion Picnic The 10th annual 314th Infantry Regiment reunion picnic will be held in Memorial Park, Chambersburg, Saturday, August 24, at noon. Meal will be served at 3 p.m. A headcount is needed by August 15. Price is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 9-16 and children under 8 are free. Chicken BBQ/Open Stage A chicken barbecue and open stage will beheld at Hustontown Firehall Saturday, August 24. Chicken will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and open stage begins at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m.

Festival Laurel Ridge Christian Church of Big Cove Tannery will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 10, beginning at 5 p.m., rain or shine. Plenty of homemade soups, baked goods, barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, homemade ice cream and soda. Music by “The Country Classics” and Michelle Layton. There will be puppets by Pastor Hamilton and family and other activities for youths. All are invited for a night of good food and fellowship.

Ice Cream Social An ice cream social will be held at Clear Ridge Community Building August 22, at 4 p.m. Served will be hot dogs, sodas and snacks.

Legion Picnic American Legion picnic will be held August 25. Tickets are on sale at the Post. Come and enjoy the fun and good food. Music will be by a DJ.


Fix Reunion The annual Fix reunion will be held Sunday, August 18, at Lions Club Park at noon. Please bring an item for the siilent auction and a covered dish.

MHS Class of 2003 Reunion McConnellsburg High School Class of 2003 will hold its 10-year class reunion Saturday, August 17, at the old Pepple’s Auction Barn beginning at 5 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. Bring your family and a potluck item to share.
