Truck Hits Tree In Hit-And-Run

A Hancock, Md., man accused of hit-and-run Sunday suffered minor injuries during the accident along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70.

State police in McConnellsburg said 23-year-old Joshua Zane Finney lost control of his 1999 Chevrolet S-10, which travelled onto the northern berm and into the median. The truck then crossed over the centerline, travelled onto the opposing berm and struck a hill, a Penn- DOT sign and a tree. The truck came to a rest in a cornfield. The crash is believed to have occurred between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

Finney fled the Bethel Township accident scene but was later located by state police.

The disabled vehicle was removed from the accident site by Fischer’s Towing.

Man Accused Of Harassment

Eighteen-year- old Mc- Connellsburg resident Daryl Webster Smith has been accused of harassment in connection with an incident at 678 North Madden Road in Taylor Township.

According to state police reports, Smith and a 37-yearold female from Shade Gap were involved in an argument. Smith is accused of throwing a cellphone at the victim’s stomach during the 1:30 p.m. fight .

Franklin County Man Injured In Motorcycle Crash

A Franklin County man suffered minor injuries during a motorcycle crash along Route 928 Sunday afternoon.

State police reported 57- year-old Jeffery Robert Douglas of Greencastle failed to negotiate a curve in the Thompson Township roadway between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. His southbound 2008 Harley Davidson travelled onto the berm, police added.

Douglas was transported to Fulton County Medical Center for evaluation.

The motorcycle, which was functional, was removed from the scene by a family member prior to state police arrival on the scene.

Window Damaged

A window on a residence located at 323 Reservoir Road in Todd Township was damaged between 7 p.m. on July 22 and 12:30 p.m. on July 23. Victim is an 85-yearold McConnellsburg man. Skateboard Stolen

A Tony Hawk skateboard was stolen from 128 South Second Street in Mc- Connellsburg Borough between 11 a.m. on July 24 and 8 p.m. on July 27. The skateboard is black in color and has a green music design on the bottom with a Tony Hawk signature. Victim is a 31-year-old McConnellsburg girl. Anyone with additional information concerning this theft is asked to call state police Trooper Piasecki at 717-485-3131.

Purse Taken

A purse was taken from a vehicle parked at the Dollar General in McConnellsburg at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, state police said. Victim is a 76-year-old female from Big Cove Tannery. Information linked to this theft from a motor vehicle should be made known to state police Trooper Poole at 717-485-3131.

Hustontown Man Charged In Theft

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have charged a Hustontown man with theft and receiving stolen property for an incident in McConnellsburg Borough.

Twenty-five-year-old Brian Allen Cutchall was caught removing copper ground wires from utility poles around the McConnellsburg Firehall and McConnellsburg Post Office along East Maple Street at 1 a.m. on Monday, July 29. Cutchall has been charged through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Two Injured In Accident

Two females from Hustontown suffered minor injuries when their vehicle was rear-ended at the intersection of Waterfall and Doran roads Saturday afternoon.

According to state police, Candy Leigh Harris, 29, was attempting a left-hand turn onto Doran Road when her 2000 Ford Windstar was struck from behind by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Levi S. Stoltzfus, 62, of Gap, at 4:30 p.m.

Harris and her passenger, a 17-year-old female, were treated at the scene for injuries and transported to Fulton County Medical Center for further evaluation. Stoltzfus was not injured. All three individuals were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred.

The Windstar was removed from the scene by Tinman Towing.

Truck Fire On Interstate

Firefighters from the Breezewood and Needmore volunteer fire companies responded to a truck fire along the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.

State police in Mc- Connellsburg reported 35- year-old Derrick Lewis Seigle, of Clover, S.C., noticed sparks emanating from the rear of his tractor-trailer cab while travelling through Brush Creek Township on Thursday, July 25. Seigle pulled over and discovered a fire between the cab and trailer but was unable to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters arrived on the 10:40 p.m. scene to find the truck fully engulfed. Penn- DOT established a detour and assisted with extinguishing the blaze. Interstate Towing assisted on the scene with cleanup and removal of the tractor-trailer.

Man Accused Of Harassment

A 26- year- old Three Springs man who was not identified by state police is being accused of harassment following an argument that turned physical. The alleged harassment occurred at 8:30 p.m. on July 24 at 7593 Black Bear Road. Victim is a 22- year-old female from Harrisonville.

Two Cited For Harassment

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have cited Ronald Eugene Powell, 58, and Cori Elizabeth McAllister, 21, both of Warfordsburg, with harassment in connection with an incident on Monday, July 22. State police said the duo were involved in an argument that turned physical at 2088 Deneens Gap Road at 5:01 p.m.

Hit-And-Run Investigated

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg investigated a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Pleasant Ridge Road on Thursday, July 25. According to reports, a goldcolored tractor-trailer attempted to make a righthand turn onto Pleasant Ridge Road and struck a guiderail barrier at 8 a.m. Anyone with information pertinent to this crash should contact state police Trooper Hoover at 717-485-3131.

Credit Card Incident Investigated

A 71-year-old male from 11 Gerald Circle, Mc- Connellsburg, told state police investigators unknown individuals attempted to open a credit card in his name on Wednesday, July 24.

Motorcycle Strikes Deer

A northbound 2008 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle struck a white-tailed deer along Great Cove Road last Tuesday evening, state police said.

Reports indicate 23-yearold Waterfall resident Michael Thomas Ross hit the deer near the intersection of Meadows Lane at 8:40 p.m. The disabled motorcycle was removed from the scene by a friend of the driver. Ross was not injured.

Woman Accused Of Retail Theft

A 47-year-old female from Harrisonville has been accused of retail theft at the Family Dollar Store on Tuesday, July 23. The woman, who was not identified by state police, was located by troopers following the 4:29 p.m. retail theft and was taken into custody for processing. Charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Two Vehicles Scratched

Two vehicles belonging to the Bureau of Forestry parked at 440 Buchanan Trail in McConnellsburg were scratched between 3 p.m. on July 19 and 7 a.m. on July 22. Anyone having further information related to this case should contact state police Trooper Poole at 717-485-3131.

One Charged With Harassment

Forty-seven-year-old Warforsburg area resident Saul Williams will be charged with harassment through the office of Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming. Williams, according to state police, was involved in an argument that turned physical on July 20 at 649 McKibbin Lane. Victim is a 40-yearold male from Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
