George J. Summers Waterfall, 89

George Junior Summers, 89, Waterfall, died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013. at Arbors III at St. Barnabas, Gibsonia, Pa.

Born March 31, 1924, in Knobsville, Pa., he was the son of the late George W. and Rosa A. (Purcell) Summers. He was married to Janet Mae Dixon on June 25, 1946. Mrs. Summers survives at home.

Surviving are one son, Jerry Summers, and wife Lucille, Dagsboro, Del., and one daughter, Margaret Horton, and companion Gary Goerk, Valencia, Pa.; six grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Park, Huntingdon.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Summers, six brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of Bethel Church of God, New Grenada,.

A retired truck driver from Hiram Wible and Son Trucking, Three Springs, he later worked for Slates Garbage Co., Three Springs. He also had been a lumberman and farmer.

He was a World War II veteran, serving as a corporal in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific where he received numerous medals and awards.

He was an active 44-year member of IOOF Lodge # 773 Waterfall. He was a past noble grand master.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Bethel Church of God, Waterfall. Pastor Kenneth Cornelius officiated. Interment was at Hustontown Cemetery.

M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, was in charge of arrangements.

The IOOF Lodge held a memorial service at 7:45 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
