BIBLE SCHOOL

Bible School A one-day Vacation Bible School will be held at Rock Hill Mennonite Church Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for ages kindergarten through eighth grade. More information may be obtained by calling 485-9074. Lunch will be provided.

Bible School Calvary Independent Baptist Church of McConnellsburg will host Vacation Bible School August 4-8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All children are welcome to join in the fun that includes Bible stories, snacks, crafts and much more. RELIGION

Back-To-School Prayer Night There will be a back-toschool prayer night August 20, 2013. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Forbes Road High School auditorium. Everyone is welcome.

Camp Meeting Crystal Spring Camp Meeting begins Friday evening, August 9, running daily through August 18. Nightly services begin at 7:30 p.m. with songleader Dan Meredith and evangelistic services under the leadership of Rev. Don Ciampa. Special nightly music is also scheduled. Sunday afternoon concerts at 2:30 p.m.; August 11 - the Fellowship Quartet; August 18 - GodScent. There are daily activities for all ages. State Singing Convention The Vicksburg Quartet of Duncancsville will present its 38th annual Pennsylvania State Singing Convention featuring 150 gospel groups/soloists and duets beginning Thursday, August 8, at 6 p.m. and continuing through Sunday, August 11, until 9 p.m. at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, 201 S. Revival Willing Vessel Ministries will be in revival August 3 at 6 p.m. at Black Oak Independent Bible Church, Stoney Break Road, Warfordsburg. Fatherhood Fun Fatherhood fun dates, sponsored by Fulton County Family Partnership, will be held August 9, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the community pool in Three Springs and September 27, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Stoner’s Dairy Farm in Mercersburg. Quilt Club Retreat Fulton County Quilt Club’s annual retreat will be held September 21, from 9 a.m. to roughly 4 p.m.

Game/Movie Night A game/movie night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center August 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to come and join in the games. There are card games (hand and foot, SKIP-BO, Phase 10 and 31) Dominos (regular or Mexican), Scrabble or play the shuffleboard. All are welcome to bring a game. Light refreshments will be served. Bring a bag of chips or something and join the fun. Also, a movie will be shown for those who like to just sit, watch a movie and eat popcorn. Call 717-294- 6020 for more information.

Soccer Camp McConnellsburg High School boys soccer camp will be held at Lions Club Park August 5-7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., for grades 7-12 only.

Coal Miners Heritage days The annual Coal Miners Heritage Days in Robertsdale is scheduled for August 2-4, which will include free admission for tours of the Broad Top Area Coal Miners Museum and the new “miners’ room.” Walking tours of historic Robertsdale will also be held Saturday and Sunday starting at the EBT station as well as an open house at the Friends of the EBT Museum Complex both days. Coal mining and railroading movies will be shown at Reality Theatre on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Path Valley Picnic The 106th annual Path Valley Picnic and Homecoming will be held rain or shine August 14-17, at Hammond’s Grove, Route 75, north of Spring Run.

Book Sale The Forbes Road field hockey team is collecting books for its upcoming used book sale. Donations may be dropped off behind the old high school between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., Monday, July 29, through Thursday, August 1, on the brick wall behind the old high school during field hockey camp. Fulton County Fair Participants Attention all fair exhibitors: Premium books are no longer being mailed to exhibitors. Please see local businesses to pick up this year’s copy. Rabbit check-in will be Saturday, August 11, at noon. All other entries will be accepted starting August 11, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, August 12, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday, August 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the fair office.

Lifeguard Trainng Lifeguard training by the American Red Cross will be held at Three Springs community pool August 19-23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To register call Audrey Hall at 717- 377-3707. Must be 15 years old or older.

Love’s Closet Love’s Closet will be held the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July-October, at 117 West Market Street, in the alley behind the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. Clothing, shoes, cleaning supplies, toiletries, toys and more absolutely free. Sponsored by United Methodist Churches of McConnellsburg.

Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, they are held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Nutrition Awareness Program A community-based nutrition education program in collaboration with Penn State which provides nutrition education through monthly and individual classes is offered to help those interested in nutrition and safe food practices. McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building basement, McConnellsburg.

P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet on the following dates: August 12 and 26, September 9 and 30, October 14 and 28, November 11, December 9, January 13 and 27 and February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support is also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction.

Shingles Vaccine Pennsylvania Department of Health will offer shingles and Tdap vaccines to uninsured and underinsured adults over 50 years of age. The clinic will be held at Fulton County Medical Center, 214 Peach Orchard Road, Mc- Connellsburg, Thursday, August 8, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is by appointment only. FOOD AND DINING

miles east of Town Hill, will hold a festival Saturday, August 3, beginning at 5 p.m. Entertainment will be by The New Connection. Games for all ages, homemade food, cake walks, etc. All are welcome.

Festival Center United Methodist Church will hold its last ice cream festival of the year, Saturday, August 24, at 4 p.m. Turkey dinners will be available with filling, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, coleslaw or applesauce. Also will be available are soup, sandwiches, pie, cake and ice cream. The Blessed Friends will be an added attraction with their beautiful songs of yesteryear and well-known hymns of faith.The church is located one-half mile off Route 655 on Waterfall Road or five miles north of Hustontown on Dublin Mills Road.

Festival Siloam United Methodist Church will hold a festival August 10, at 4 p.m. Menu consists of sandwiches, soup, homemade ice cream, pie, etc. Church is located on Rt. 655 south of Harrisonville. Music by Country Christians.

Ice Cream Social An ice cream social will be held at Clear Ridge Community Building August 22, at 4 p.m. Served will be hot dogs, sodas and snacks.

Festival Laurel Ridge Christian Church at Big Cove Tannery will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 10, at 5 p.m. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches and baked goods will be on sale. Music will be provided by the Country Classics and there will be puppets by Pastor Hamilton and family and games for the children. Laurel Ridge Christian Church books – “100 Years of History of the Church” will be on sale as well.

Legion Picnic American Legion picnic will be held August 25. Tickets are on sale at the Post. Come and enjoy the fun and good food. Music will be by a DJ.

Festival Whips Cove Church will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 3, at 5 p.m. Entertainment will be The New Connection. Games for all ages, homemade food, fun and fellowship.

REUNIONS

MHS Class Of 1983 Reunion McConnellsburg High School Class of 1983 will hold its 30th class reunion August 3 at American Legion Post 561. All class members are urged to attend this milestone class reunion. For more information call 407-761-7580.

Fix Reunion The annual Fix reunion will be held Sunday, August 18, at Lions Club Park at noon. Please bring an item for the siilent auction and a covered dish.

McKee Reunion The annual McKee reunion will be held Saturday, August 3, at Warfordsburg Community Park, behind Warfordsburg Senior Center. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Please bring an item for the silent auction. Let family members know and plan to attend.

Rhodes Reunion The annual Rhodes reunion will be held Sunday, August 4, at the VFW picnic grounds. Lunch will be served at noon. Bring a covered dish and possibly grab bags.

Back Run School Reunion Back Run School will hold its annual reunion August 3, at the senior center, 100 Woodside Drive, off Cito Road, McConnellsburg.
