Christian Social Services Temporarily Closing
Christian Social Services, a nonprofit organization associated with a multitude of area churches, will be temporarily closing its doors to local residents later this week.
CSS Director Lynn Miller shared with the “News” that the office currently located in the education building of McConnellsburg United Methodist Church along North Second Street, Mc- Connellsburg, will be closing on Friday, July 26.
The temporary closure is in conjunction with the proposed multi-phase construction project being undertaken by the church that will see the creation of a new fellowship hall, which will feature a larger kitchen and dining area. Construction, once under way, has been estimated at 1 1/2 years.
Miller stated during that time frame CSS is hoping to achieve even bigger and better things. While officials are currently working on leads on new office space in the area, no firm plans have been announced as to when the office will reopen its doors.
CSS was established following the loss of case management here by Lutheran Social Services many years ago. The organization follows the motto, “helping others, help themselves,” and offers an array of programs to local residents in need such as with utility bills, furniture and financial classes.
