Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

Lots of folks are out traveling these nice, warm days, but for most of us, we sort of like to stay in and avoid the heat.

Happy birthday wishes to Morgan Mundorff on July 24.

Visitors in the Kate Berkstresser home last week were Ann Hawkins on Thursday afternoon and Kathy Kinghorn on Friday and also Jeff Berkstresser, Harvey and Pat Berkstresser, Clara Mae Strait and Deonna Carmack on Saturday evening.

It was good to see a nice crowd out for church on Sunday morning at Knobsville United Methodist Church.

Congratulations to Mc- Connellsburg Post 561 American Legion baseball team on winning the championship for the first time ever in the Franklin County league. Local players on the team are Tristan Gelvin, Kyle Schoen and Casey Wade.

Tristan Gelvin continued his Flood City 17U baseball summer season at a weekend tournament in Johnstown with games being played at Point Stadium and University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Glad to hear Sam Blizzard is progressing after heart surgery. We hope he continues on to a full recovery.

I get a report that some folks in Clear Ridge are being visited by a bear, and it even carries off the bird feeders.

Quite a few folks attended the auction at Hustontown Firehall for the salt and pepper collection of Betty Shotts. Another sale is planned for later.

Household Hint: If moles are tunneling your lawn there are grubs in it. Treat the lawn with an insecticide of diazine or chlorpyrifos to ride it of grubs and the moles will depart.
