Wells Tannery Homecoming The Wells Tannery Homecoming will be held July 27 at Wells Tannery Community Park. The parade starts at 11 a.m. Food, including chicken barbecue, will be served throughout the day starting at noon. Come listen to local, live music groups that will play until the raffle drawing at 9 p.m. Fire companies, marching groups, cars, floats, decorated bikes and 4-wheelers are encouraged to participate in the parade. Homecoming Car/Truck Show The fourth annual car and truck show will be held July 27 at the Wells Tannery Homecoming. Benefit Ride A benefit ride will be held for Gracie “Amazing Grace” Covert, a 2-1/2-year-old girl from Shirleysburg, Pa., who is in need of both a lung and heart transplant. The event, which is open to motorcycles and classic cars, will get under way Saturday, July 27, at 8 a.m., with registration at the Orbisonia American Legion Post 518. The ride will then begin at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $20 and an additional $10 per passenger. The ride is 120 miles round trip with three stops along the way before ending back at the American Legion for prizes, music and food. Mic & Jam Night McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Assoc. will host a Mic & Jam Night Saturday, July 20, 2013. Shoot For Life The 15th annual Shoot for Life will be held Saturday, July 20. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Everett Sportsmen’s Club. This is a 50-bird shoot. A lesson will be provided, following the business meeting, for a bargello-quilted wall hanging. Materials (rough estimates) needed: fabric requirements – red: 1/4 yard, white: 1/4 yard, blue: 11 inches by 14 inches, backing and batting: 22 inches by 22 inches and binding: your choice – two inches by approximately 80 inches.
