Local Athletes Compete At Hershey Track Meet

State Hershey Track Meet held on the Penn State University Track in State College.

Taryn Parks, daughter of Trevor and Amber Parks of Greencastle, won the Pennsylvania State 11-12 Girls Title, winning the 800-meter run with a time of 2: 40.13. Taryn also placed sixth in the 200- meter dash with a time of :31.84. Taryn will now be eligible for selection to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Team, which will compete in the 35th Annual North American Finals on August 3, 2013, in Hershey, Pa.

9-10-Year-Old Girls

Kiana Purvis, daughter of Kia Purvis of Chambersburg, placed third in the state.

9-10-Year-Old Boys

Taysean Foster, son on Kasie Harlow of Mercersburg and Gary Foster of Shippensburg, placed third in the softball throw with a throw of 145 feet, 7-1/2 inches, setting a new Mc- Connellsburg record. Taysean also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of :15.48 and placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of :32.35.

11-12-Year-Old Girls

Ashley Noblit, daughter of Christopher and Katherine Noblit of Greencastle, placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:17.26.

11-12-Year-Old Boys

Damon Knepper, son of Whitney and Eric Knepper of McConnellsburg, placed sixth in the standing long jump with a jump of 6 feet, 6-1/4 inches.

13-14-Year-Old Boys

Trey Swope, son of Ellen and Cloyd Swope of McConnellsburg, placed fifth in the softball throw with a throw of 181 feet, 11-1/2 inches, setting a new Mc- Connellsburg record.
