District Hershey Track Meet Held At Somerset

On June 22, 2013, 17 athletes attended the 2013 District Hershey Track Meet held on the Somerset High School Track in Somerset. The results are as follows:

9-10-Year-Old Girls

Kiana Purvis, daughter of Kia Purvis of Chambersburg, set two new record in the 9-10-year-old girls division. She placed second in the standing long jump. She also placed fourth in the 50- meter dash. In addition she placed third in the 100-meter dash. Other winners included Avery Parks – sixth in the softball throw; Allison List – sixth in the 200-meter dash and sixth in the 400- meter.

9-10-Year-Old Boys

Taysean Foster, son off Kasie Harlow of Mercersburg and Gary Foster of Shippensburg, set three records in the division – placing first in the softball throw and first in the 200-meter dash and placing second in the 100-meter dash.

Other winners included Holden Lupey – set two new records – placing third in the standing long jump with a jump of 6 feet, 1 inch and in the 400-meter run placed fourth with a record-setting run of 1:19.56. Holden is the son of Jim and Lori Lupey of Waterfall. Dalton Noblit placed fifth in the 50-meter dash.

11-12-Year-Old Girls

Taryn Parks, daughter of Trevor and Amber Parks of Greencastle, set a new record in the 800-meter run. Taryn placed second in the 200- meter dash. Ashley Noblit, daughter of Christopher and Katherine Noblit of Greencastle, placed second in the 400-meter dash. Other winners included Alexis Lupey placed fourth in the standing long jump, jumping 6 feet, 5 1/2 inches and placed fifth in the 100- meter dash with a time of : 15.41, Aryanna Lupey placed fourth in the softball throw with a throw of 102 feet 5 inches.

11-12-Year-Old Boys

Damon Knepper, son of Whitney and Eric Knepper of McConnellsburg, placed second in the standing broad jump with a jump of 6 feet, 11 inches. Damon also placed eighth in the softball throw with a throw of 108 feet, 4 inches. Other athletes included Carter Garlock, who placed sixth in the 100- meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash.

13-14-Year-Old Girls

Kyleena Purvis placed fifth in the standing long jump, Emma Wise placed seventh in the 100-meter dash, and Kellyn Perry, placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of :32.53 and fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:57.28.

13-14-Year-Old Boys

Trey Swope, son of Ellen and Cloyd Swope of McConnellsburg, set a new meet record in the 13-14-year-old boys softball throw with a throw of 172 feet, 10 inches, placing second. Kyle McFadden placed fifth in the 100- meter dash and placed third in the 200-meter dash.

The following six athletes will compete in the Pa. State Hershey Meet Saturday, July 6, at noon on the Penn State University track in State College: Kiana Purvis, Taysean Foster, Taryn Parks, Ashley Noblit, Damon Knepper and Trey Swope.
