Selected To Represent Dickinson School Of Law
Lindsay Berkstresser, 20, Waterfall,arising3Latthe Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, recently repreesnted the law school’s Moot Court Board in Boston as a competitor on the ABA Appellate Advocacy team.The Moot Court Board serves as the principal advocacy organization in the law school, preparing top advocates to compete in a number of moot court and oral advocacy competitions across the country and internationally.
Berkstresser secured first place for the plaintiffs in the law school’s 2L Mock Trial Competition and serves on the Penn State Journal of Law and International Affairs and is the former vice president of the American Association of Justice. She is the student representative of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, an Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts Fellow and Miller Public Interest Advocate, where she works to increase access to justice through a variety of pro bono activities including the Wills for Heroes Program. The program provides essential legal documents free of charge to our nation’s first responders.
Ranked in the top 10 percent of her class, she is the recipient of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity Serv- ice Scholarship, the PA Bar Association Stoult Scholarship and the Dean’s Merit Award. Throughout law school, she has served on the United Way Board of Directors of Carlisle and Cumberland County, as an extern for the Community Justice Project, Harrisburg, and as judicial law clerk for the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas.
She has clerked for the law offices of Charles E. Shields, Mechanicsburg, and Boyle Litigation, Camp Hill. Berkstresser is currently a summer associate with Martson Law Offices, Carlisle.
Co- authoring with Sports law scholar professor Stephen Ross, their article, “Using Contract Law To Tackle The Coaching Carousel,” is newly published in the Univeristy of San Francisco Law Review.
She is a 2010 summa cum laude graduate of Shippensburg Univeristy’s John L. Grove College of Business and the college’s honors program and a 2009 graduate of Forbes Road High School. She is the daughter of Dwayne and Betsy Northcraft of Berlin, Pa.
