Crews Searching For Missing Rafter In Western Pa.
OHIOPYLE, Pa. (AP) – Crews are still searching for a man who disappeared after his raft capsized on a river in western Pennsylvania over the weekend.
Officials in Fayette County say the 22-year-old man went missing shortly after noon Saturday while whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle State Park.
The park’s manager, James Juran, says rescue teams have been combing the river and surrounding woods in search of the man, who’s in his 20s.
Officials with White Water Adventurers say the man’s raft flipped at a place called Dimple Rock and he was swept about 200 yards downstream, disappearing near an area known as “Swimmer’s Rapid.’’
