Streets Meant For Motor Vehicles
To The Editor:
Just wondering if pedestirans have the right-of-way to walk in the middle of the street? I know they have the right-of-way in a crosswalk, but I thought the street was meant for motor vehicles.
I would think that when you walk the middle of the street and a vehicle approaches you and you’re walking in their lane of traffic, you should make an effort to move instead of forcing the vehicle to go into the other lane of traffic.
I guess you assume you can have half the street and the vehicles can have the other half.
This problem is easy to solve – use the sidewalk.
