Bible School Walnut Grove Church of God in Maddensville will hold Vacation Bible School July 21-25, at 7 p.m. every evening. The theme is “Colossal Coaster World – Facing Fear, Trusting God.”

Wells Tannery Homecoming The Wells Tannery Homecoming will be held July 27 at Wells Tannery Community Park. The parade starts at 11 a.m. Food, including chicken barbecue, will be served throughout the day starting at noon. Come listen to local, live music groups that will play until the raffle drawing at 9 p.m. Fire companies, marching groups, cars, floats, decorated bikes and 4-wheelers are encouraged to participate in the parade. AYSO Fall Soccer Sign-ups AYSO fall soccer sign-ups will be held at the alumni building Saturday, July 13, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, July 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday, July 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, July 20, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Must be 4 years old by August 1, 2013. Benefit Ride A benefit ride will be held for Gracie “Amazing Grace” Covert, a 2-1/2-year-old girl from Shirleysburg, Pa., who is in need of both a lung and heart transplant. The event, which is open to motorcycles and classic cars, will get under way Saturday, July 27, at 8 a.m., with registration at the Orbisonia American Legion Post 518. The ride will then begin at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $20 and an additional $10 per passenger. The ride is 120 miles round trip with three stops along the way before ending back at the American Legion for prizes, music and food. Mic & Jam Night McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Assoc. will host a Mic & Jam Night Saturday, July 20, 2013. Alumni gym will open at 4 p.m., with music starting at 5 p.m. Feature band will be “Silver Creek Band.” All ages are invited to come and listen, dance and enjoy a night out. Car/Truck/Motorcycle Show McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show behind the old school July 13 beginning at 8 a.m. Registration is over at 11:30 a.m. Sixty awards will be presented, along with 100 dash plaques. The old gym will host a flea market. Chinese auction, breakfast, dinner and 50-50 will be offered. A $10 entry fee day of show and $8 earlybird week before show. Raindate is July 14. Ben K-5K The eighth annual Ben K-5K will be held Saturday, July 27, with the race beginning at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church community building. Registration prior to July 6 is free. Ham Potpie Fundraiser In place of the free meal on the second Tuesday in July, a ham potpie fundraiser is planned for Friday, July 12, at 5 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg. Proceeds from the meal will be donated to the Cody Trail family to help with medical costs. Cody is a student at Central Fulton who has been fighting cancer for the last several months. Cost of this meal will be by donations only. Please plan to attend and help.

Festival Whips Cove Church will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 3, at 5 p.m. Entertainment will be “The New Connection.” Games for all ages, homemade food, fun and fellowship.
