Maryland Man Accused Of DUI
A 24-year-old Hancock, Md., man has been accused of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Sunday, June 20.
According to state police reports, Allen Michael Harris was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol along Great Cove Road near the intersection of Gem Bridge Road at 1:03 a.m. Charges against Harris will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming.
Altercation Leads To Charges
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg investigated an alleged harassment that occurred at the Cardinal Glen Apartments on Monday, June 24. Jerrod T. Jones, 33, of McConnellsburg, is accused of pushing and grabbing a 21-year-old female, also from Mc- Connellsburg, at 6 p. m. Jones will be charged through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Woman Injured In Todd Township Accident
A McConnellsburg woman was transported to Fulton County Medical Center on Thursday, June 27, after sustaining moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident.
Nichole A. Lake was injured at 4:15 p.m. when she lost control of her westbound 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier along Lincoln Way East. The car struck a utility pole, and the 27-yearold was able to come to a stop in an adjacent private driveway, state police said. However, Lake exited the vehicle, which was not placed in park, and the car travelled an additional 200 yards before hitting a tree.
Lake was wearing a seat belt and required medical transport. She will be charged with failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Four Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident
Four Huntingdon County residents suffered injuries ranging from minor to major during a two-vehicle collision along Aughwick Road.
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said that on Wednesday, June 29, Justin B. Locke, 25, of Orbisonia, lost control of his southbound 1999 Audi A4. The vehicle crossed the Dublin Township roadway just north of Forbes Road and struck an oncoming 2007 Dodge Dakota operated by Jeffrey R. Kauffman, 26, of Mount Union.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the 4:41 a.m. head-on collision.
Locke was transported to Chambersburg Hospital with major injuries, while Kauffman was not injured. Kauffman’s passenger Isiah W. Shore, 28, of Mount Union, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Chambersburg Hospital. Additional passengers Derek M. Stewart, 22, and Douglas R. Rinker, 21, both of Mount Union, suffered injuries as well but did not require medical transport.
All individuals were wearing a seat belt. State police are set to charge Locke with failure to drive on roadway laned for traffic, and Kauffman will be charged with driving a vehicle that has not been inspected.
Utility Poles Struck In Wells Township
Two individuals escaped injury during a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Houck Road and New Grenada Highway on Friday, June 28, in Wells Township.
According to state police reports, 44-year- old Robertsdale resident Kelly G. Fogal was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto New Grenada Highway and pulled into the path of a westbound 2005 Pontiac Vibe driven by Heather N. Heaton, 22, of Broad Top.
State police said Heaton attempted to swerve to avoid striking Fogal’s 2005 Pontiac Grand Am. Heaton’s car struck a downed utility pole lying along the berm and struck an upright utility pole as well at 6:35 a.m.
Neither driver was injured. Fogal will be cited for stop signs.
Officials with Berkebile Construction of Johnstown reported burglars broke into their shed located at 2017 McKees Gap Road in Union Township between 12:01 a.m. on June 21 and midnight on June 28. A passenger in a northbound 2001 Ford Ranger that overturned along Great Cove Road suffered minor injuries, state police reported, on Friday, June 28.
Reports indicate Terrance R. Price, 69, of North Rose, N.Y., was injured during the 11:32 a.m. accident just south of the intersection of Lakewood Lane. Price was a passenger in a truck operated by Larry J. Price, 64, of Little Orleans, Md., that struck an embankment and then rolled onto its driver side door.
Terrance Price did not require medical transport following the accident in Belfast Township. Larry Price will be charged by state police with failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Vehicle Strikes Deer
A northbound 2007 Honda Civic sustained disabling damage when it struck a white-tailed deer crossing Thompson Road on Saturday, June 29. Driver Samuel J. Sponaugle, 20, of Weyers Cave, Va., was not injured in the 9:28 p.m. accident, state police reported.
A 21- speed mountain bike was found at 13465 Sipes Mill Road, Harrisonville, at 2:09 p.m. on Thursday, June 27. The owner of the bicycle is asked to call state police in Mc- Connellsburg at 717-485-3131.
Mercersburg Man Cited For Disorderly Conduct
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg cited 20- year-old Mercersburg area resident Thomas Paul Koppenhaver with disorderly conduct in connection with an incident at the intersection of Route 16 and Lincoln Way East in McConnellsburg Borough.
Koppenhaver operated his vehicle in an unsafe manner on Tuesday, June 25, at 8:50 p.m., state police said. He allegedly accelerated on purpose, causing his truck to spin sideways multiple times while there was oncoming traffic. Charges against Koppenhaver are filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Two Collide In Franklin County
A Harrisonville woman was one of two drivers involved in a two-vehicle accident in Hamilton Township, Franklin County, last Friday afternoon
According to state police in Chambersburg, Richard E. Rockwell, 83, of Chambersburg, was attempting to turn left onto Lincoln Way West from the Kwik Chek market and pulled into the path of an eastbound 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Kristin D. Sponsler, 23, of Harrisonville.
Rockwell and Sponsler were both wearing seat belts in the 2:44 p.m. accident. They were not injured. Rockwell will be cited for vehicles turning left.
Local Woman Tries To Escape Probation Officers
A 24- year- old Fulton County woman jumped from the rear of a moving vehicle operated by county probation officers who were transporting her to the Franklin County Jail on Wednesday, June 26.
Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg said Lacie Ann Washabaugh was being transported after violating the terms of her probation. During the transport, Washabaugh unbuckled her seat belt and opened the rear passenger side door through an open window. She jumped from the vehicle, which was travelling 10 miles per hour, onto Letterkenny Road in Greene Township at 4:26 p.m.
Washabaugh, state police added, was handcuffed in front of her body during the incident. She suffered minor injuries when she hit the roadway.
Two packs of Marlboro cigarettes and some loose change totaling $2 were reported stolen from 1401 Lincoln Way West, McConnellsburg. Victim of the theft on Wednesday, June 26, is a 54- year- old male from Mc- Connellsburg. A 53-year- old McConnellsburg man told state police investigators that 100 orange clay pigeons were placed in the yard of his home located at 313 North First Street. The harassment reportedly occurred between 2:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25. Breezewood Man Uninjured
A Breezewood, Pa., man was not harmed when he lost control of his southbound 2004 GMC 1500 in Wells Township on Sunday, June 23.
According to state police reports, Rodney C. Ramsey was approaching the intersection of Wells Valley and Enid roads at 5:37 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle. The GMC spun clockwise across the roadway and rolled onto its driver’s side. The vehicle came to rest at the bottom of a grass embankment on its roof.
Ramsey, 27, was wearing a seat belt. He will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Car Towed From Scene
A 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier sustained disabling damage during a vehicle rollover along Lincoln Highway on Monday, July 1.
State police reported 21- year-old Alexa Brianne Kehr of McKeesport, Pa., lost control of her eastbound car, which travelled onto the berm, struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof at 2:50 p.m. Kehr was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.
Fischer’s Garage removed the car from the Brush Creek Township accident scene. State police were assisted on the scene by Breezewood fire and EMS.
Pool Ladders Taken
Two aluminum pool ladders valued at $110 were stolen from a location along Heavenly Acres Ridge Road in Thompson Township between June 26 and 30. Victim is a Mercersburg area woman.
