Edwin L. Steach Three Springs, 84

Edwin L. “Eddie” Steach, 84, Three Springs, Pa., died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on May 25, 1929, in Mc- Connellsburg, a son of the late Dwight Sr. and Evelyn (Mellott) Steach. On February 28, 1952, he was united in marriage to his wife of 61years, Sara Jane (Barkman) Steach.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three children: Debra Rhodes, Williamsburg, Pa.; Frederick L. Steach Sr., Three Springs; Martin L. “Marty” Steach, married to Sandy ( Calhoun), Saxton, Pa.; granddaughters: Karen Steach, San Jose, Calif.; Holly Nash, married to Chris Nash, Marietta, Pa.; Melissa Steach, Three Springs; two stepgrandchildren: Jessie Hawk, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jenny Hawk, Manns Harbor, N.C.; two great- grandsons: Caden Ratliff and Jackson Nash; and a brother, Dwight Steach Jr., Clackamas, Ore.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Jean Souza, Esther Hixson, Virginia Hammaker and Mary Ellen; two grandsons: Frederick Steach Jr. and Steven Rhodes; and son-in-law John C. Rhodes Jr.

He was a member of Akersville Methodist Church.

Earlier in his life he was a lumberman until 1959 when he moved to Huntingdon County and purchased a dairy farm, “Anastasis Farm.” He owned and operated the farm until his retirement.

He loved hunting, fishing and gardening.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 24, 2013, at 11 a.m., in the chapel at Akers Funeral Home. Pastor Joseph Shawley officiated.

Burial was held in Akersville Methodist Cemetery.
