Body Found In Pa. River ID’d As Missing Canoeist
NORTHAMPTON, Pa. (AP) – An eastern Pennsylvania coroner says the body of a man found in a river has been identified as a canoeist who went missing a week ago.
The Lehigh County coroner’s office says the body found Friday night in the Lehigh River was that of 53- year-old Jeffery Lacava of Northampton.
Authorities said Lacava was last seen on the river in a canoe June 16 when he went missing in the area of Canal Street Park in Northampton.
His body was found near the Tilghman Street Bridge in Allentown, more than six miles away. Officials said the river has been running high because of recent heavy rains.
