A surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration was held Saturday, June 22, for John and Betty Harr at Mc- Connellsburg Firehall. It was given by their daughter, Melody, and their siblings.

The Willing Workers of McConnellsburg St. Paul Lutheran Church held their annual yard and food sale last Thursday and Friday.

Abagael McGarvey recently attended Camp Chihop, a camp for children who have had liver and other organ transplants. It was held in West Virginia. Activities included swimming, horseback riding, boating, arts and crafts, campfires and cookouts. This is Abby’s second year to attend the camp.

John and Annette Rasp will observe their 28th wedding anniversary June 29.

St. Paul’s Big Cove Tannery Lutheran Church held its annual festival on Saturday. Entertainment was by the Silver Creek Band.

Public Opinion track and field 2013 all-stars from the county were: first team – Corey Hill, McConnellsburg; Jacob Ashkettle, Southern Fulton; second team – Dylan Cross and Tyler Richards, Southern Fulton, and Josh Voight, Southern Fulton, and Nick Daniels and Nikki Fleming, Mc- Connellsburg; first team – Samantha Roberts and Jessi Keefer, McConnellsburg, and Melanie Deneen and Macy Hollensehad, Southern Fulton.

A third-year birthday party was held on Sunday for Blaire Shives in the home of her parents, Tony and Seleen Shives, with family members attending, along with her brother, Brodie, and friends.

Sympathy goes out to Chauncey and Polly McGarvey on the death of Polly’s sister, Nancy, of Pittsburgh, and formerly of this area. Nancy passed away this past weekend.
