Hope L. Wright Wells Tannery, 87

Hope L. Wright, 87, Wells Tannery, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Homewood Retirement Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 2, 1926, in Langdondale, Pa.; a daughter of the late Glen A. and Margaret (Eichelberger) Smith. On September 20, 1947, in Everett, she was united in marriage to Norman C. Wright Sr. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1978.

She is survived by four children: Norman C. Wright Jr., married to Nancy (Whitfield), Roaring Spring, Pa.; Dale A. Wright, married to Carla (Kuykendall), Greencastle; Marian F., married to Kenny Steach, Crystal Spring; and Yvonne H., married to Donnie Sweger, Wells Tannery; a sister, Betty Helsel, Wagner, S.C.; nine grandchildren: Ty Wright, Stephanie Brumbaugh, Travis Wright, Troy Wright, Stacy Wright, Jeremy Steach, Michael Wright, Brandon Steach and Keith Sweger; and 10 great-grandchildren: Dylan, Mara, Kara, Cayden, Julianna, Jenna, Caleb, Toby, Bryce and Colin.

She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Catherine Covert, Allen Smith, Paul Smith, Grace Smith and Lester Smith.

She was a member of Wells Valley Presbyterian Church, where she assisted with Bible school.

She was a devoted homemaker, who enjoyed caring for her family and volunteering in her community.

She served as president of Wells Tannery Community Park for a number of years and was a former 4-H leader.

She enjoyed reading, embroidering, crocheting, crafting and her long walks in the woods. She loved to be around children.

Family and friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, Wednesday, June 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday, June 20, from 10 a.m., until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 11 a.m., in the chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Cross officiating. Burial will be held in Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery.
