Olivia Mills Wins Hagerstown Suns Idol Competition


SPECIAL TO THE NEWS SPECIAL TO THE NEWS After five weeks of competition and 15 contestants, Olivia Mills won the very first Hagerstown Suns Idol competition this past Saturday.

The competition, which is loosely based on “American Idol,” had auditions held earlier in the year with contestants required to sing a variety of songs posted on Facebook or performed live at the Suns stadium for audience votes. Each week, one or more contestants were eliminated, until it came down to Saturday’s finale.

Mills and another contestant battled it out with four songs. Three were selected by the Hagerstown Suns Management staff and one was an original provided by the two finalists. Mills received a large trophy, Washington Nationals and Suns tickets, a cash prize and a dining gift card.

Olivia is a 2013 Forbes Road graduate will attend Seton Hill University in the fall, majoring in musical theatre and minoring in dance. She is the daughter of Mike Lupey and Joyce Mills-Lupey of Waterfall.
