Low-Cost Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic Opens In McConnellsburg
Better Days Animal League recently opened a low- cost spay/neuter and wellness clinic in Penn’s Village Shopping Center in McConnellsburg. The clinic is open to the public and provides a variety of services, including low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats, vaccinations, deworming, nail clipping, ear cleaning and flea and tick treatment.
Founded in 2007 by Chief Humane Officer Dennis Bumbaugh, Better Days Animal League is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization supported by proceeds from its six thrift stores as well as contributions from private citizens.
“Every day we see the unfortunate results of pet overpopulation,” says Bumbaugh. “Cases of animal abuse, neglect and cruelty are rampant. Meanwhile, unwanted litters of puppies and kittens are being born daily. The mission of our clinic is to promote responsible pet ownership and to improve the quality of life for animals in our community,” he states.
The clinic is staffed by board-certified veterinarians from Mountain View Animal Hospital in Shippensburg. Local resident and vet tech Lori Glazier brings more than 20 years experience serving the residents and pets of the Mc- Connellsburg area. Additionally, they are supported by a team of trained and dedicated volunteers. Since opening, the clinic has spayed or neutered more than 400 dogs and cats – animals that now live healthier and happier lives while drastically reducing the number of unwanted animals.
The clinic is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays of every week and appointments are necessary. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 717-485-3033.
