RELIGION

Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church on North Hess Road, June 24-27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday, June 28, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the VBS program at 7:15 p.m. for preschool through high school. The theme is “God’s Backyard Bible Camp Under The Sun” where kids have a blast serving Jesus. Come and share in a sunny outdoor adventure that starts in your own backyard and gets bigger each day as kids take the laws of Jesus into their homes, neighborhoods and communities.

Bible School Wells Valley Community Vacation Bible School will be held July 8-12, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Wells Tannery Community Park. This year’s Bible School will be led by summer missionaries from the Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry. All children up to and including 12 years of age are welcome. Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church, 121 North Second Street, June 24-28 at 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with children, activities, food/snacks, etc. More details available by calling 485-4815.

Homecoming Come celebrate homecoming Sunday at Dublin Mills Community Church for the 40th anniversary on Sunday, July 7. Special Concert Black Oak Independent Bible Church presents the Stevens Family a/k/a Willing Vessel, in concert with good, old-fashioned Southern gospel music June 29, at 6 p.m. A freewill offering will be taken. RECREATION

Open Stage Open stage will be held at Hustontown Area Volunteer Firehall Saturday, June 22, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Wells Tannery Homecoming The Wells Tannery Homecoming will be held July 27, at Wells Tannery Community Park. The parade starts at 11 a.m. Food, including chicken barbecue, will be served throughout the day starting at noon. Come listen to local live music groups that will play until the raffle drawing at 9 p.m. Fire companies, marching groups, cars, floats, decorated bikes and 4-wheelers are encouraged to participate in the parade. Car/Truck/Motorcycle Show McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show behind the old schoolgrounds July 13 beginning at 8 a.m. Registration is over at 11:30 a.m. Sixty awards will be presented, along with 100 dash plaques. The old gym will host a flea market. Chinese auction, breakfast, dinner and 50-50 will be offered. A $10 entry fee day of show and $8 earlybird week before show. Raindate is July 14. Motorcycle Ride A motorcycle ride for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will be held Saturday, June 22. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Fayetteville Expert Auto Care; departure at 10:45 a.m.; and 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. - arrive at American Legion picnic grounds in McConnellsburg. Supported by American Legion Riders Post 606, American Legion Post 561 and others. All are welcome to the Mc- Connellsburg American Legion picnic grounds after the ride. The ride is being organized by Samantha Ross for her senior project at Forbes Road High School. Cost is $15 for riders and $10 for passengers. Bring helmet. Cars may follow at above cost. Ben K-5K The eighth annual Ben K-5K will be held Saturday, July 27, with the race beginning at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church community building. Registration prior to July 6 is free. Forms received following that date or on race day should include a $5 fee. Yard/Food Sale A yard and food sale will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg, Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21, at 8:30 a.m.

Hancock Football Registration Hancock flag football and Hancock flag football cheer squad will hold registration for kids entering kindergarten thru second grade Friday, June 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Hancock Community Center. Cost is $35 for flag football and $50 for cheer squad. Bring child’s birth certificate. More information may be obtained at hancockflagfootball@gmail.com.

Car Show Calvary Independent Baptist Church will hold a car show Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at 140 McGoverns Lane, McConnellsburg. Majorette Camp Majorette camp will be held June 22-25 at Southern Fulton Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Cost is $80 per child. If interested contact Amy Spade Elias at amyrenee02@yahoo.com by June 7.

Fair Queen Applications Fair queen applications are available for girls ages 16-20 by callng Vickie Gordon at 485- 4915. Deadline is July 1. Relief Center Open House Cumberland Valley Relief Center will hold an open house June 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hot dogs and ice cream sundaes and tours of the facility will be available. The center is located at 4225 Molly Pitcher Highway South, Chambersburg.

Carwash/Bake Sale A carwash and bake sale will be held at All Things Automotive Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit MHS cheerleading.

Love’s Closet Love’s Closet will be held the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July-October, at 117 West Market Street, in the alley behind the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. Clothing, shoes, cleaning supplies, toiletries, toys and more absolutely free. Sponsored by United Methodist Churches of McConnellsburg.

Hunter/Trapper Course Fulton County Hunter Trapper Education course will be held Saturday, June 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. From Mc- Connellsburg take Rt. 522 north about 3/4 mile. Turn right onto McGovern’s Lane and proceed approximately 2/10 mile to club. Preregistration is required. Click yes on PGC Web site at www.pgc.state.pa.us, click on education/hunter education class schedule. Class limit is 55 students. This is the first of three traditional courses for the county. HEALTH

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, they are held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages every Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., at Community State Bank. Call for cost and to register at 717-485- 4492.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6:30 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

Nutrition Awareness Program A community-based nutrition education program in collaboration with Penn State which provides nutrition education through monthly and individual classes is offered to help those interested in nutrition and safe food practices. Red Cross Blood Drive A Red Cross blood drive will be held June 25, from noon to 6 p.m., in the fellowship hall of Mc- Connellsburg United Presbyterian Church at 116 Second Street.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building basement, McConnellsburg.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. FOOD AND DINING

Festival St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will hold a festival June 22, at 4 p.m. Menu includes homemade ice cream, soups, pies and cakes. Served will be barbecues, hamburgers and hot dogs. Entertainment provided by Silver Creek band from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you are looking for an evening of great food, wonderful fellowship and relaxation, please attend. The church is located five miles south of McConnellsburg on Rt. 522.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

MEETINGS

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, June 25, at 10 a.m., at the victory garden behind Mc- Connellsburg Fire Co. Democratic Meetings The Fulton County Democratic Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Democratic Headquarters building at 123 South Second Street in McConnellsburg. Historical Society Museum Volunteer Meeting Historical Society Museum volunteers are requested to meet at the Fulton House Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m., for planning summer activities. Learn to properly do inventory with the help of a trained volunteer. Anyone wanting to help but have never done so, please come and see how we hope to improve the museum.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, June 22, at 10 a.m., in the community room of Community State Bank, 415 Fulton Drive, McConnellsburg. Following the business meeting a “Show and Tell” will be held. All are welcome.

4-H Shooting Club Meeting The 4-H Shooting Club will meet Thursday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m., at the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Youths are welcome to attend.

Sportsmen’s Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery on June 21. A special election will be held to fill a vacant board position for the remainder of 2013 and 2014. Please note that no monthly meetings will be held during July and August.

Meadow Grounds Lake Meeting Come out and show support for the Meadow Grounds Lake at a public meeting in the community room, lower level, of Fulton County Library, Monday, June 24, at 6 p.m.

PARSE Meetings Cancelled PARSE Chapter 127 will not hold meetings during the months of June, July and August. Fall meetings resume in September.

BINGO

McCbg. Bingo McConnellsburg Fire Co. will hold bingo every Monday and Friday of each week. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Bingo Shade Gap Fire Co. will hold bingo at the Shade Gap Ladies Auxiliary building every Thursday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m.

REUNIONS

Swope Reunion The descendants of Andrew and Iola Swope will hold their annual reunion Sunday, June 30, at Sideling Hill Christian Church. Lunch will be at 2 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Since this is a new location and time, please pass the information on to all family and friends.

Mellott Reunion The descendants of Clarence/Thorton and Mabel Mellott will hold their annual reunion at Needmore Community Center scoutgrounds in Needmore, Sunday, July 7. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Friend and neighbors are always welcome.

MHS Class Of 1983 Reunion McConnellsburg High School Class of 1983 will hold its 30th class reunion August 3 at American Legion Post 561. All class members are urged to attend this milestone class reunion. For more information call 407-761-7580.
