Estol A. Clingerman Artemas, 86

Estol Akers Clingerman Sr., 86, Artemas, Pa., died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Western Maryland Health System, Cumberland, Md.

He was born January 30, 1927, in Cumberland, Md., a son of the late Earlston O. and Helen (Akers) Clingerman. On April 22, 1948, in Flintstone, Md., he was united in marriage to Lois Jean (Sleek) for 65 years.

Along with his wife, he is survived by the following children: Gloria J. Dilley- Robinette, Artemas, Pa.; Sandra A., married to David Keckley, Artemas, Pa.; Sheila K., married to Bill McCusker, Little Orleans, Md.; Pamela S., married to Craig Mc- Cusker, Little Orleans, Md.; Patricia D., married to Bradley Hofe, Little Orleans, Md.; Estol A. Clingerman Jr., married to Lori (Foor), Bedford; Lindsy R. Clingerman and special friend Natalie Hartley, Massachusetts; Jennifer L. Fisher and fiancé David Yonker, Little Orleans, Md.; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Justin Dilley; and a brother, Espy S. Clingerman

He was a member of Fairview Christian Church, Artemas, Pa.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.

He worked 13 jobs over his lifetime. He retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike as an equipment operator, where he was employed from 1967 until his retirement after 22 years of employment in 1989.

He was a charter member of the Artemas American Legion Post No. 155 from 1947 to present. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking and playing card games: poker and set back.

Family and friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, Wednesday, June 12, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday, June 13, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Fairview Christian Church with Pastor Tom Mowry officiating.

Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Artemas Area Honor Guard.
