Bernard M. Baer Three Springs, 90

Bernard M. Baer, 90, Three Springs, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Harrisburg Hospital following a short illness.

Born July 11, 1922, at Neelyton, Pa., he was the oldest child of the late Roy L. and Mary Belle (Morgan) Baer. He was married to the former Betty Jane Switzer on November 8, 1946, at Mc- Connellsburg. She preceded him in death September 11, 2011.

Surviving are three children: Sharon K. Harper and her husband Charles “Moose,” of Three Springs; Dennis F. Baer and his wife, Wava, of Shade Gap; and Fred M. Baer and his wife, Jane, of Hagerstown; four grandchildren: Richard Harper, Angie Naugle, Jessica Walters and Matthew Baer and seven great-grandchildren: Amber Harper, Aaron Harper, Allison Naugle, Jordon Naugle, Evan Walters, Macie Walters and Owen Walters; and siblings: Robert Baer, Shade Gap; Max Baer, Burnt Cabins; Pauline Peterson, Burnt Cabins; and Nancy Baer of Shade Gap.

One son, Bernard Paul Baer Jr.; a brother, Ned Baer; and a sister, Lois Meece, preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Battery A. 4th Coast Artillery - Harbor Defense in Panama and the Galapagos Islands. He lived most of his life in Shade Gap and was a member of Harrisburg UA Local 520, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, retiring in 1982 after 35 years service.

He was a member of Chambersburg Club.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 10, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Rev. Joseph Gentilman officiated. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap.
