Rep. Dick Hess (R-Bedford/ Fulton/Huntingdon), majority chairman of the House Transportation Committee, last week issued the following statement concerning passage of the Senate transportation plan contained in Senate Bill 1.

“I am pleased that the Senate has advanced a transportation bill to the House and that this process of reaching a full, fair and bipartisan agreement on this critical issue in our commonwealth is moving forward.

“I congratulate the Senate Transportation Committee leadership on their efforts and for the conversations we have had on this issue so far. As Majority Chairman

Sen. John Rafferty has said, we have been working together across party lines, from rural and urban areas alike, to improve our infrastructure in Pennsylvania.”

“There is much work facing us in the days ahead. Let me reiterate what I have been saying all along. I will continue to work with senators, House members and the Corbett administration to craft a final legislative product that will build and repair roads and bridges throughout Pennsylvania and aid in the totality of our transportation needs.”

“Time is not our friend on this issue, we must act, and the steps are being taken. I will continue to dedicate myself to this effort.”
