Participants must be at least 12 years old, and anyone under 18 years old has to be accompanied by an adult. Life jackets are required for this program and will be provided. Meet at the amphitheater.
Saturday, June 29: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Wild Side of Weather Hike. Join George Barner, from Get Outdoors PA, and enjoy a leisurely hike along the lakeside trail as you learn about the weather during several rest periods along the way. Learn how to read the clouds and learn about weather lore. Find out what weather sayings can help you out and which ones just leave you feeling wet. Learn how to look for changes in the weather to keep you and your family safe. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring plenty of water. Meet at the park amphitheater.
7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Photos at Sunset Hike. Bring the family out for some sunset photography. Before the sun sets you will learn what makes a good sunset and we will share tips on capturing them with the camera. Then we will take a short hike for a great spot to watch the sunset. Everyone will have a chance to take pictures of the sun setting over Cowans Gap Lake. A limited number of park cameras are available for the program, or bring your own. Meet at the park amphitheater.
