Strawberry Fest This Weekend

The Strawberry Festival is ready to open this weekend, June 14 and 15, on the Fulton County Courthouse lawn featuring a Friday evening concert by the Mercersburg Community Band beginning at 7:30 p.m., and a Saturday noontime concert by singer, songwriter of contemporary Christian music Michelle Layton. The festival officially opens each day at 10 a.m.

Saturday morning at 9 a.m., at the courthouse square, the second annual Strawberry Stampede 5K Run is set to begin for all ages of runners and walkers.

For the past few weeks kindergarten and first-grade students in all the county schools have been participating in a Strawberry Festival coloring contest. The winners have been selected and can pick up their prizes at the festival. First-place winners are: Emily Harper, first grade, and Ian Farling, kindergarten, at Central Fulton; Cole Zenoble, first grade, and Mykenzie Vinson at Forbes Road; Ellie Morton, first grade, and Jennifer

Iker, kindergarten, at Southern Fulton; Emma Swope, first grade, and Braiden Stepanik at FC Community Christian School. The grand-prize winner was selected as first-grader Ellie Morton from the Southern Fulton School District.

Also, the Chamber of Commerce and the Center For Families are teaming up to hold a baby and toddler contest. Bring a photo of your baby and toddler to the contest booth. A recipe contest will be held for those persons presenting special strawberry pies and cakes and other deserts.

Vendor booths featuring delicious food items as well as handmade crafts will be lined up along West Market Street. And under the chamber tent can be found many special strawberry treats for hungry festival-goers.

The Fulton County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism presents the Strawberry Festival to provide good wholesome fun and to help build community spirit.
