RELIGION

Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church on North Hess Road, June 24-27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday, June 28, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the VBS program at 7:15 p.m. for preschool through high school. The theme is “God’s Backyard Bible Camp Under The Sun” where kids have a blast serving Jesus. Come and share in a sunny outdoor adventure that starts in your own backyard and gets bigger each day as kids take the laws of Jesus into their homes, neighborhoods and communities.

Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church, 121 North Second Street, June 24-28 at 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with children, activities, food/snacks, etc. More details available by calling 485-4815.

Homecoming Come celebrate homecoming Sunday at Dublin Mills Community Church for the 40th anniversary on Sunday, July 7. Bible School Vacation Bible School is scheduled at Center United Methodist Church the week of June 17 through June 21, from 6:30 p.m. through 8:30 p.m. The theme of the week is “Kingdom Rock.” All are welcome.

RECREATION

Yard Sale North End Garden Club will hold a yard sale June 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at 248 Locust Drive to support local community service projects.

Film To Be Shown Fulton County residents and independent filmmakers Wesley Mellott and Andrew Glessner will premiere their first film, “Blind Circumstance,” Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22, at the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg. “Blind Circumstance” follows Ben and Chris, two lifelong best friends with a history of violence, who find themselves in need of a quick buck to solve their short term troubles. Neither of them, however, anticipated the consequences of their actions. The film contains graphic language, violence, drug use and strong sexual content. Viewer discretion is advised. Showings start at 8 p.m., with a question and answer session to follow. Tickets are $6 per person and doors open at 7 p.m.

Open Stage Open stage will be held at Hustontown Area Volunteer Firehall Saturday, June 22, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Motorcycle Ride A motorcycle ride for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will be held Saturday, June 22. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Fayetteville Expert Auto Care; departure at 10:45 a.m.; and 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. - arrive at American Legion picnic grounds in McConnellsburg. Supported by American Legion Riders Post 606, American Legion Post 561 and others. The ride is being organized by Samantha Ross for her senior project at Forbes Road High School. Strawberry Festival The 23rd annual Strawberry Festival is on schedule for Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15. Activities begin at 10 a.m. each day. Good food and fellowship each day. Friday evening features an old-fashioned band concert performed by the Mercersburg Community Band on the courthouse lawn at 7:30 p.m. Saturday morning kicks off with the 5K Strawberry Stampede run/walk at 9 a.m. At 12:30 p.m. on Saturday a musical concert presented by singer, songwriter and recording artist Michelle Lynn Layton. Also featured are beautiful baby and toddler contest, strawberry recipe contest, strawberry capping contest and strawberry coloring contest for kindergarten and first graders. Ben K-5K The eighth annual Ben K-5K will be held Saturday, July 27, with the race beginning at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church community building. Registration prior to July 6 is free. Forms received following that date or on race day should include a $5 fee. Yard/Food Sale A yard and food sale will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg, Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21, at 8:30 a.m.

Hancock Football Registration Hancock flag football and Hancock flag football cheer squad will hold registration for kids entering kindergarten thru second grade Friday, June 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Hancock Community Center. Cost is $35 for flag football and $50 for cheer squad. Bring child’s birth certificate. More information may be obtained at hancockflagfootball@gmail.com.

Car Show Calvary Independent Baptist Church will hold a car show Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at 140 McGoverns Lane, McConnellsburg. Mic & Jam Night McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will partner with the Evangel Assembly of God Church of McConnellsburg Saturday, June 15, and host a Community Outreach program at the building. Free food, free kids games and music to listen to from noon to 4 p.m. At 4 p.m., Pastor Sam Childers will speak and then at 5 p.m., alumni community building will sponsor a Mic & Jam Night featuring gospel music. All ages are invited. Anyone wishing to perform on June 15, please contact 328-2899.

Majorette Camp Majorette camp will be held June 22-25 at Southern Fulton Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Cost is $80 per child. If interested contact Amy Spade Elias at amyrenee02@yahoo.com by June 7.

Motorcycle Run A motorcycle run through scenic Fulton County with Pastor Sam Childers will be held June 15 and 16, sponsored by Evangel Assembly of God. Registration at the church from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments and drinks. Pastor Sam will speak at 11:45 a.m. and ride leaves church at noon. Cost is $20 per bike. From noon to 4 p.m., there will be an outreach at McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends building. Free kids games, music and good eats. Machine Gun Preacher Sam Childers will speak at 4 p.m. Sunday morning services will be held June 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Relief Center Open House Cumberland Valley Relief Center will hold an open house June 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hot dogs and ice cream sundaes and tours of the facility will be available. The center is located at 4225 Molly Pitcher Highway South, Chambersburg.

Carwash/Bake Sale A carwash and bake sale will be held at All Things Automotive Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit MHS cheerleading.

Love’s Closet Love’s Closet will be held the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July-October, at 117 West Market Street, in the alley behind the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. Clothing, shoes, cleaning supplies, toiletries, toys and more absolutely free. Sponsored by United Methodist Churches of McConnellsburg.

Hunter/Trapper Course Fulton County Hunter Trapper Education course will be held Saturday, June 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. From Mc- Connellsburg take Rt. 522 north about 3/4 mile. Turn right onto McGovern’s Lane and proceed approximately 2/10 mile to club. Preregistration is required. Click yes on PGC Web site at www.pgc.state.pa.us, click on education/hunter education class schedule. Class limit is 55 students. This is the first of three traditional courses for the county. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, they are held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages every Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., at Community State Bank. Call for cost and to register at 717-485- 4492.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6:30 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

Blood Drive The Red Cross will be accepting blood donations June 13, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Faith Center in Warfordsburg.

Nutrition Awareness Program A community-based nutrition education program in collaboration with Penn State which provides nutrition education through monthly and individual classes is offered to help those interested in nutrition and safe food practices. Red Cross Blood Drive A Red Cross blood drive will be held June 25, from noon to 6 p.m., in the fellowship hall of Mc- Connellsburg United Presbyterian Church at 116 Second Street.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. FOOD AND DINING

Festival St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will hold a festival June 22, at 4 p.m. Menu includes homemade ice cream, soups, pies and cakes. Served will be barbecues, hamburgers and hot dogs. Entertainment provided by Silver Creek band from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you are looking for an evening of great food, wonderful fellowship and relaxation, please attend. The church is located five miles south of McConnellsburg on Rt. 522.

Chicken BBQ A chicken barbecue will be held at Needmore Firehall Sunday, June 16, at 11 a.m. Menu will be half a chicken, baked beans, applesauce, cake and roll.

Festival Siloam United Methodist Church will hold a festival June 15 at 4 p.m. Menu will consist of homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, pie, etc. The church is located south on Rt. 655 from Harrisonville. Music by Country Christians.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

MEETINGS

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, June 25, at 10 a.m., at the victory garden behind Mc- Connellsburg Fire Co. Following the garden tour, lunch and meeting will be held at Linda Garber’s home, 794 Peach Orchard Road, McConnellsburg. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-5736.

4-H Shooting Club Meeting The 4-H Shooting Club will meet Thursday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m., at the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Youths are welcome to attend.

Ashlyn’s Angels Meeting Ashlyn’s Angels’ monthly meeting will be held June 18 in the boardroom of McConnellsburg American Legion at 6 p.m. New members are always welcome. More information may be obtained by calling Nancy Bivens at 717-799-7343.

Sportsmen’s Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery on June 21. A special election will be held to fill a vacant board position for the remainder of 2013 and 2014. Please note that no monthly meetings will be held during July and August.

Meadow Grounds Lake Meeting Come out and show support for the Meadow Grounds Lake at a public meeting in the community room, lower level, of Fulton County Library, Monday, June 24, at 6 p.m.

PARSE Meetings Cancelled PARSE Chapter 127 will not hold meetings during the months of June, July and August. Fall meetings resume in September.

BINGO

McCbg. Bingo McConnellsburg Fire Co. will hold bingo every Monday and Friday of each week. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Bingo Shade Gap Fire Co. will hold bingo at the Shade Gap Ladies Auxiliary building every Thursday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m.

REUNIONS

Berkstresser Reunion The family and relatives of Kate Berkstresser and the late Herbert Berkstresser will hold a reunion Sunday, June 16, at Forbes Road Lions Park. Bring a covered dish for lunch at 1 p.m. Enjoy the afternoon of fellowship, games of horseshoe and softball. All are welcome.

Swope Reunion The descendants of Andrew and Iola Swope will hold their annual reunion Sunday, June 30, at Sideling Hill Christian Church. Lunch will be at 2 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Since this is a new location and time, please pass the information on to all family and friends.

Mellott Reunion The descendants of Clarence/Thorton and Mabel Mellott will hold their annual reunion at Needmore Community Center scoutgrounds in Needmore, Sunday, July 7. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Friend and neighbors are always welcome.

MHS Class Of 1983 Reunion McConnellsburg High School Class of 1983 will hold its 30th class reunion August 3 at the American legion Post 561. All class members are urged to attend this milestone class reunion. For more information call 407-761-7580.
