Two Cited By State Police

Two Warfordsburg area residents face charges in connection with an alleged physical altercation that occurred on Wednesday, May 22, at 132 Layton Road. According to state police reports, Herbert A. Carpenter, 60, and 56-year-old Brenda A. Wolf were involved in the 6:06 p.m. incident. Charges of simple assault and harassment are to be filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Mellott Heming.

Lug Nuts Loosened

The lug nuts on a commonwealth of Pennsylvania vehicle were loosened between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, May 17. State police said the vehicle was parked along a private lane off North Clear Ridge Road in Dublin Township when the mischief occurred. Anyone having further information pertinent to this case should immediately contact state police Trooper Horton at 717- 485-3131.

Mailbox Stolen

A mailbox and post were stolen from 4348 Old 126 in Union Township between 5 p.m. on May 17 and noon on May 18. Victim is a 44-yearold Warfordsburg area man. Anyone having further information concerning this theft is asked to call state police Trooper Doriguzzi at 717- 485-3131.

Meat Grinder Missing

A 44-year-old Big Cove Tannery man told state police investigators his meat grinder was stolen from 1333 Stoneybreak Road in Bethel Township between May 8 and May 24. Anyone with additional information regarding this theft should contact state police Trooper Poole at 717-485-3131.

Local Man Charged With Harassment

Fifty-two-year- old Mc- Connellsburg area resident James Marvin Younker Sr. is slated to be charged with harassment through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott. Younker, state police said, was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with a 51-yearold McConnellsburg woman on Monday, May 20, at 8:45 a.m. The harassment occurred at 635 East Pine Street in McConnellsburg Borough.

Two Men Jailed For Theft

Two McConnellsburg area men were remanded to the Franklin County Jail for the theft of approximately 20 storm grates between May 1 and May 24 in neighboring Franklin County.

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg reported troopers had been investigating numerous thefts of storm grates in Antrim, Peters and Montgomery townships. On Friday, May 24, John Pittman Jr., 22, and 23-year-old Zachary Pittman allegedly attempted to steal an additional grate and were placed under arrest by troopers.

Man Jailed For Domestic Assault

Fifty-three-year-old Mc- Connellsburg resident Mark Steven Seville was arraigned on Tuesday, May 28, and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Seville, according to state police reports, was arrested followinga4a.m.domestic assault at 421 Lincoln Way East in McConnellsburg Borough. Seville allegedly argued with and grabbed a 44- year- old McConnellsburg woman by the throat while straddling her as well as threatened to kill her.

Police said the incident reportedly continued when Seville allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old girl and a 67-yearold woman, both of Mc- Connellsburg. All three victims sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Burglary Reported

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg investigated a burglary at 2439 North Valley Road in Brush Creek Township.

The break-in, state police said, occurred Sunday, May 26, between noon and 12:30 p.m. Among the items stolen were two pistols, two rings, a bag with cash and several receipts. Victims are a 33-yearold man and a 28-year-old female, both of Crystal Spring. Anyone having further information related to this burglary is asked to call state police Trooper Poole at 717- 485-3131.

Harassment Reported

Pennsylvania State Police, McConnellsburg, investigated a harassment at 8940 Thompson Road in Belfast Township. Police said an unknown individual reportedly loosened the cap on a vehicle’s oil pan. Victim is a 52- year- old Needmore area woman. Anyone having further information pertinent to this case should contact state police Trooper Poole at 717-485-3131.

Hit-And-Run Investigated

A hit-and-run accident occurred along East Maple Street in McConnellsburg Borough on Tuesday, May 21, state police said. An unknown, eastbound vehicle struck the left mirror of a legally parked 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt at 2:30 p.m. Anyone with additional information concerning this accident is asked to immediately call state police Trooper Poole at 717-485-3131.

Harassment Reported

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg were dispatched to an alleged harassment that occurred at 709 Lincoln Way East, Mc- Connellsburg, on Sunday, May 19. Police alleged Richard Douglas Seville, 33, of McConnellsburg, grabbed a 21-year-old McConnellsburg man around the neck at 9:52 p.m.

Driver Cited Following Accident

A Three Springs, Pa., woman faces charges of failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic following a single-vehicle accident along Mountain House Road.

According to state police reports, 19-year-old Tabitha E. Simpson lost control of her eastbound 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe while rounding a left-hand curve in the Wells Township roadway on Sunday, May 19. The vehicle then struck a guiderail on the berm. Simpson was wearing a seat belt during the 9:40 p.m. accident and was not injured.

Police Investigate Trespassing

A 47-year- old Mercersburg area woman told state police investigators she recently saw a man trespassing on her property located at 654 Big Cove Tannery Road in Thompson Township. The man was observed on the property at 10:40 p.m. on Monday, May 20. He was described as a white male wearing a flannel shirt and jeans. Anyone having further information linked to this case should immediately contact state police Trooper Poole at 717-485-3131.

Missing Man Located

A 76-year-old man who was reported missing from his Taylor Township home on Wednesday, May 15, was found following a five-hour search.

State police reported Herbert Hilton Hedge of 538 Hollow Log Lane, Hustontown, was reported missing from his residence at 10 p. m. Troopers searched the area along with assistance from officials with the Bureau of Forestry, Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co., state police helicopter and family and friends. Hedge was eventually found near a field in the area of Wooden Bridge Road.

Police noted Hedge had fallen down and was unable to walk back to his vehicle. He was taken from the scene by Hustontown EMS via allterrain vehicle and was reported in fair condition.

Vehicle Overturns On I-70

A Carol Stream, Ill., man suffered minor injuries on Wednesday, May 15, when his vehicle overturned along the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.

Pennsylvania State Police said Abu Z. Ghaffari, 42, failed to negotiate a righthand curve in the Bethel Township roadway at 8:17 a.m. Ghaffari’s 2008 Honda CRV travelled onto the berm where it struck a ditch and overturned. Ghaffari was treated at the scene and will be charged with failure to drive at safe speeds.

State police were aided on the scene by Needmore Volunteer Fire Co., Hancock EMS and Town Hill Towing.

Baltimore Man Accused Of DUI

Pennsylvania State Police, McConnellsburg, arrested a Baltimore, Md., man for driving under the influence following a traffic stop along Interstate 70. Troopers pulled over 27-year-old Edwin Gaye Porte on May 18 at 4:37 p.m. while he was travelling through Bethel Township. Charges, which will also include various vehicle code violations, will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Bard.
