Ralph L. Bivens Big Cove Tannery, 65

Ralph Leonard “Pete” Bivens, 65, Big Cove Tannery, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at J. C. Blair Hospital in Huntingdon, Pa.

He was born December 4, 1947, in Clear Spring, Md., the son of the late Samuel and Marie (Phenuice) Bivens. He was married to Rose Stinebaugh Bivens on Feb. 23, 2004.

He was a heavy equipment operator for P&W Excavating in McConnellsburg, and Kline Paving in Frederick, until his retirement in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Bivens of Big Cove Tannery; two sons: Eddie Bivens of Greencastle and Paul Bivens of Chambersburg; one daughter, Georgie Babcock of McConnellsburg; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; four siblings: Betty Everts of Mc- Connellsburg; Frances Faith of Chambersburg; C. Wayne Bivens of Greencastle; and Marvin Bivens of Chambersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Marie G. Bivens; one daughter, Tammy Bivens; one son, Gary Bivens; two brothers: Eugene and Glenn Bivens; and one sister, Cora Bivens

A memorial service was held Friday, May 24, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg. Interment was at Union Cemetery. Rev. Lowell Bard officiated.
