Esther J. Brown Saxton, 81

Esther J. Brown, 81, Saxton, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 18, 1932, in Stonerstown, Pa., a daughter of the late Edgar Clark and Esther Dixon. She was united in marriage on November 8, 1953, in Stonerstown Church of the Brethren by Rev. Dan Brumbaugh to James R. Brown. He survives her along with their six children: Ruth, married to Roy Smuda, James Creek, Pa.; Clarissa, married to Rodger Holsinger, Roaring Spring, Pa.; Judy, married to Dwayne Lynch, Hustontown; Robert Brown, married to Mary (Blocher), Burnt Cabins; Nancy Brown and companion Howard Dick, Roaring Spring, Pa.; and Carol, married to David Stull, Wood, Pa.; two brothers: Richard Roland, married to Mary, Tyrone, Pa., and William Roland, married to Sandy, James Creek, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert, Norval, Edward and James Roland.

She was of the Brethren in Christ faith. She was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1950.

She was a homemaker, caring for her family.

She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening and attending flea markets.

Burial will be held in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Akers Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Pastor John Bennett officiated.
