Southern Fulton Commencement May 30

Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m.

The graduation ceremony for Southern Fulton will take place on Thursday, May 30, at 7 p.m., in the high school auditorium. The doors will open at 6 p.m.

Sean Daniel Bright, son of Andy and Paula Bright of Needmore, will be graduating as the valedictorian of the Class of 2013 at Southern Fulton Jr./Sr. High School. In addition to a strong academic record, Sean was involved in band, chorus, Scholastic Scrimmage, National Honor Society,

Envirothon and varsity track. Sean was elected senior class vice president. In 2012, the VFW recognized Sean for his essay during its annual Voice of Democracy contest. He competed at the district level where his essay achieved first-place honors. He is active in the Hagerstown Church of Christ, an Eagle Scout and is a participant in Civil War re-enactments. He will be attending Bridgewater College, majoring in history.

Jordyn Leigh Rider, daughter of Brian and Tracy Rider of Warfordsburg, has earned the distinction of salutatorian of the Southern Fulton Class of 2013. Jordyn was elected senior class president. In addition to working hard on her academics, Jordyn has been involved in Scholastic Scrimmage, Interact Club, National Honor Society and cheerleading. In 2013, Rider received first place in the VFW’s annual Voice of Democracy contest. Following high school, she plans on continuing her education at Arcadia University, majoring in communications/global media.

Abigail Lindsay Hawkins, daughter of Jason and DeAnn Hawkins of Needmore, is ranked third in Southern Fulton’s Class of 2013. Throughout her high school career, Abby was involved in varsity volleyball, color guard and the National Honor Society. Her postgraduate plan is to attend the main campus of the University of Pittsburgh to major in pre-rehabilitation sciences.

Cheyenne Renee Clark, daughter of Steve and Jodi Clark of Big Cove Tannery, is ranked fourth in the Southern Fulton Class of 2013. In addition to her academic achievements, she also participated in the Spanish Club and served as a youth leader at the Needmore Bible Church. Her post-graduate plan is to attend Millersville University, majoring in early childhood education.
