More than 50 women and girls attended a ladies tea held at the Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Faith Center on May 19.

For the special occasion butterflies of all sizes and colors decorated the walls of the center and hung from the ceiling. The tea tables were dressed for spring with coverings and place settings in an assortment of pastel colors, garden flowers and candles. Everyone enjoyed tea sandwiches filled with delicious salads and spreads as well as a variety of teas served in teapots collected from members of the congregation.

A 'Decorate Your Own Cupcake Bar' provided the dessert for the event.

For some lighter moments a hat contest was held. Many ladies wore their favorite hats, and some were quite old with wonderful stories attached to them. A purse scavenger hunt finished the afternoon’s festivities.

Organizers hope to make the tea and annual event.

Winners of the hat contest were vintage, Helen Barnhart; Mad Hatter, Lisa Fleegle; Kentucky Derby, Lois Lee Mellott; and floral fantasy, Emme White and Addie Hendershot.
