Cowans Gap Announces Summer Camps
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of State Parks, and Cowans Gap State Park would like to announce the following summer camps:
Pennsylvania State Parks are pleased to announce “DiscoverE: Explore, Experience, Enjoy,” outdoor programs for young people. DiscoverE seeks to get children active in the outdoors while learning about the natural world. The program is divided into three age categories: Hide-n-Seekers, ages 4-5; Outdoor Adventurers, ages 6-8; Penn’s Adventurers, ages 9-12. Cowans Gap will be offering programs for children in all age groups. Please call the park office at 717-485-3948 to register. Group sizes are limited, so don’t delay.
Hide-n-Seekers (ages 4- 5): July 8 and 9 (9 a.m.- noon). “Wonders of Nature” – Come explore with us! Bugs and flowers, games and crafts, songs and hikes, and much more are all part of this fun program for young children. Children should be dressed in play clothes and will need to bring a snack and drink
Outdoor Explorers (ages 6-8): June 24 and 25 (9 a.m.- noon). “Water World” – Learn about the lives of plants, insects, and animals connected with watery habitats. Program includes lots of handson outdoor activities. Children should be dressed in play clothes and bring shoes suitable for the water. They will need to bring a snack and drink.
Penn’s Adventurers (ages 9-12): July 15 and 16 (9 a.m. to 1 p.m). “Nature Adventures” – Discover the natural world through outdoor recreational activities. Activities may include birding, kayaking, hiking, digital photography, geocaching, or stream studies. At least two different activities will be presented each day. Children should be dressed for the weather and bring shoes suitable for in the water. They will need to bring a lunch and drink.
