Paul N. Mellott, 84
Paul N. “Pappy” Mellott, 84, McConnellsburg, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in Needmore, Pa., May 29, 1928, the son of the late Oscar and Claire (Reed) Mellott. He was the widower of Helen Layton, who passed away on July 6, 1988.
He served in the U. S. Army in World War II, was a member of the American Legion Post #561 of Mc- Connellsburg; worked for K.G. Richards for many years as a mechanic and a welder; and was a farmer and also loved dirt track racing.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Klebonis of Boswell, Pa.; companion Janet Hann of McConnellsburg; stepdaughters: Norma DeShong of Knobsville; Cindy Kitchens of Greencastle; and Cathy Stines of Marion, Pa.; a stepson, Joe Hann of McConnellsburg; a brother, Willis Mellott of Needmore; a grandson, Robert A. Mellott of Everett; a granddaughter, Jenine Norton of Fort Loudon; 13 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 29 step- greatgrandchildren; three greatgreat grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Wertz, and a brother, Maynard Mellott.
Services will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2013. Pastor Dan Porterfield will officiate. Interment will be at Sideling Hill Baptist Cemetery, Needmore, Pa.
There will be visitation Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Mc- Connellsburg. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
